6th Gear, Redline........
I hit 106 and ran out of road. I am new with this speed thing and was nervous then. I could not believe how stable my car was!
I have enough mods and reduced car weight enough to have a marked increase in acceleration throught 6 th gear, I think!

Weight reduction would not help much in high speed acceration...

Destiny2002 thanks for the chart. This illustrates some interesting things:
1. Redline in 5th is 140 so the owner who quoted 144 at redline just proves that our speedos are in fact generally optimistic.
2. Peak HP is at 8300 rpm which is about 156 in 6th. I believe 156 is about the TRUE top speed of a S2k (those who have seen more than that are relying on the speedo and/or downhill, tailwind, etc). That means that, unlike most cars, the S2k has the optimum gearing for top speed. As I stated in an earlier post, it's HP that does the trick. Most cars won't rev to the HP peak in top gear, ours apparently will.
3. You can see from the chart how our gearbox keeps us close to the the peak HP, which is what you want for max acceleration. For example, in shifting from 3rd to 4th, you shift at 9k, 700 rpm above HP peak and drop to 7k, only 1300 below peak HP. 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th is even better. Since HP is less both above and below 8300, the ideal is to upshift when the HP in the higher gear is the same as the HP you are developing just before the shift, thus keeping the max HP "under the curve". The best transmission would be a CVT that kept the rpm at a steady 8300.
