Same for me. I love the engine and everything about the car, but would have bought a coupe if it was offered. The top down is just good for attracting cougars, lol.

I bought my S2000 because I like the engine/transmission and the way the car handles, my wife really likes the open air aspect. When it is sunny and hot she can only handle so much and then the top goes up and the AC comes on. I also have a OEM HT that is on the car from Oct - April due to the near constant rain in the PNW. Except for snow and freezing weather my car is now more drivable.
I like having both soft and hard tops.

Yep, the softtop is the only part I don't like about the car. I bought it for the incredible engine/tranny and focused performance with little compromise. I also think it looks sexy.
and soooo much sexier with the hardtop on!

That's because it's too hot to sit in SoFL traffic for more than 6 months out of the year. Here it's top down weather all but maybe 2 months a year in the middle of winter.

Top down driving is only fun when you don't have a commute in slow traffic...much more enjoyable on open roads.

I would not have bought the S2000 if it was a hard top. I would probably have bought the 350Z.

I hate the idea of convertibles as sports cars, but when I drove an S for the first time, I knew I was going to have one. So after I bought it, I took out the soft top and bolted down an OEM hard top......best thing I have ever done to it.
