Keep in mind this isn't intended as a track-only race machine, despite the verbage of the press release. This is a more aggressively tuned trim option for the base car. It's an inexpensive (for Honda) way for AHM to give purchasers of new S2000s the option for a more aggressive car. It's not a factory effort at an SCCA T2 car.

I wonder what S2000 history would be like if Honda had offered a CR-type trim line from the very start of production? How many people would be driving it vs the base model?

(For what it's worth, I still find it ugly, and no reason to trade in my AP1. But I like the direction AHM is thinking in. )

Also, I rather like what Lamborghini does for a CR type car. Of course, they're not too worried about keeping costs down.

I'd much rather them dump a bunch of R&D into the car and up the price than to come out with what they did. S2000 on NSX level from the factory mmmmm.

[QUOTE=freq,Apr 4 2007, 08:45 PM] w/o a roll bar / cage it still doesn't fit the Club Racer profile. It truely is a Club Ricer. Here on the East Coast the addition of an OEM hardtop might get you onto 1 more track. Most organization want a cage / rollbar.

Agreed, from our perspective as people who already own an S2000, this isn't particularly newsworth. A new $45k to $50k S car with upgraded horsepower, reduced weight, a significant Type R treatment, or whatever, would seriously catch my interest.

Well, maybe the 2009 S2000 will have all this and more. And maybe the 2008 CR is just a teaser to spark interest again.

riiight...
Was this like a protest against a car that, while a little ugly, is probably better than what most of us here own? It might not be what we were hoping for but realistically, its modifications are probably more functional than most modifications done to most S2Ks. I

For the people who have seen the CR in person, is the color a close match to the laguna seca blue on the M3? I remember people hated that color but it slowly grew on the ///M crowd.

I found the color to be very close to the blue used on the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

ugh, I really hate that blue on the FJ.

Oh well, if the driving experience of the CR warrants an upgrade, I'll just get another white S
