Interesting interview from TOV about the CR.

Couple of interesting points learned from the interview:

1. Short shifter is 1.3cm shorter throw, sounds like its actually a short shifter and not just the shift knob.
2. (kind of obvious) All of the parts for the CR will be available for purchase through your honda dealer, and will most likely bolt right up.
3. The CR uses the AP1 steering rack.
4. Ride height is the same as the standard S2000.
5. The designer of the S2000 and NSX/NSX-R designed this S2000 CR according to the interview.

I sort of like the interior touches... but I don't think that I will be replacing anything from my car for this car. I even like my 04 rims better.

Honda sucks.

I wish that Honda would make a $75,000 mid engined AWD sports car with like 450 hp. Make it the size of the C6 Vette and make it in couple, touring, and convertible trim. Something that would put Audi's new supercar and the 911 to shame.

If the parts are bolt-on for older modela, then I can see a number of people getting the tonneau cover for their AP1 or AP2. Folks have been asking for that for years. It will probably only come in the CR colors, though. However, I doubt that the price would make it worthwhile. I recall something like 300-400 just to get the glovebox space of the '06 on my '02. Not worth it.

Overall, it's growing on me, though I wouldn't trade my '02. If I was buying new, then maybe I'd shell out the extra. If my dealership gets one, I definitely want to go see it in person.

I think we all need to reserve judgment until we drive it. It sounds like it may offer the rawness of the AP1 with the stronger F22C engine.

I'm interested in the CR. It's better than nothing. The S2000 could very well be discontinued by now.

Think about it... Back in 2000-2001, who would have thought Honda would still be making this car in 2008?

From the appearance, the tonneau cover won't fit with the soft top installed.

I doubt that would stop those that want it. The only times I've ever needed my soft top is at meets when it rained. Hardtop or tonneau cover sounds doable for many.

Regardless, I can't see myself being one of them.

You guys should see the latest limited edition NISMO edition 350Z. No performance improvements but revised suspension and body add ons such as ugly lip, wing, and rear diffuser that looks like a coffee table. Improved cornering g's and corner speed by 3mph. All this at a couple thousand over msrp. Sound similar? Where's the turbo? Where's the 4.0 liter engine? Then it would be a $45-50k 350Z I bet. S2000 CR is a tweaked S2000 with an ugly lip which can easily be swapped with a JDM bumper/lip of your choice. It's not an S2500, S3000, S2200 Spoon edition, or S2000 turbo. It's an S2000 that was lightened and made to handle better straight from the factory. I'm keeping an open mind about it since everyone banged on the AP2 when it came out and no one has driven this CR yet.
