Does going well above redline kill an engine? As Homer Simpson said when asking if garbage trucks are amphibious, "There's only one way to find out!" Accelerate to freeway speed, drop it into first gear and let out the clutch. Might want to call the tow truck dispatcher first, so you won't be waiting on the roadside too long.

One of the reasons Honda lowered the redline is because the valvetrains just weren't holding up......

It is easier to make a reliable 8K redline engine than a 9K one.

Hey, there's nothing stopping anybody from posting more on the CR.

I think the redline issue has been beaten to death anyway.

P.S. There's no question that repeatedly taking an engine above its rated redline will shorten its life. But then, so will repeatedly taking an engine up against its redline verses always keeping it 1 or 2K below its redline. But why do we buy performance cars anyway?: To get out of them what they can reasonably deliver for the fun of it.

Bingo -- and easier is almost always cheaper. Honda replaced the F20C with the F22C for more reasons than many realize.

And now to get back on track...
It is nice to see the Honda is getting back the S2000 back to it's original roots with the CR version, but I question why they ever took away the car's hardcore edginess to begin with.

marketing...

Personally, I'm surprised they didn't make an auto version of the S2000. Not saying I'd agree with that move, but it would have probably increased sales numbers. There are three brand new Miatas in my parking lot... 2 are auto..

Anyway, back to CR talk... anyone put a deposit down yet for one?

Hell, if someone was serious enough, the CRs are already at some dealerships ready to be bought.

I read the specs on the new CR, my buddy sent me a link on the page. I thought the spoiler and front lip were ricy looking as well as the color. Sounds like there is going to be no bump in power, the weight of the car will be 2762 (same as ap1) and will get stiffer suspention. woo hoo! I think this is stupid. whats wrong with force induction on this car. Then it would be worth wile. Any body with a concern for having a moded s2000 will have reach the point of this car and I can say for myself well beyond. I think the s2000 desurves more then the CR will provide. Its really too bad. I was disapointed to read up on the specs. The only thing I liked about the apperance of the body work is the top cover behind the head rest.

That's a press car in for diff repairs, isn't it? Not one that's available for purchase.
