Don't know about the reinforcments but the steering ratio is suppose to be the same as an Ap1. I didn't know that AP1 and 2 and difforent ratio's
from VTEC.net:
"To stiffen the body, a brace has been bolted into the area vacated by the convertible top mechanism while up front, another brace is installed to stiffen the steering box."

"Now that I was behind the wheel, I was able to get a feel for the CR's steering - I was never fully onboard with the AP2s switch to a slower ratio, so having the AP1's quicker ratio back is a big plus in my book."

I see the '08 model has the following stabilizer bars (front/rear):
27.2xt5.3 / 25.4xt5.4

And the '08 CR has these:
28.6xt4.5 / 26.5xt4.5

Doing a little digging I see the '00-01 had:
28.2xt5.0 / 27.2xt5.3

And it's clear to see the '02-'07 models were softened up...
'02-'03:
26.5xt5.0 / 27.2xt4.5
'04-'07:
26.5xt5.0 / 25.4xt4.5

The first number is the diameter in millimeters and the second is the thickness of the material (because it's a hollow swaybar). Assuming the materials are the same, larger and/or thicker means stiffer. So the rear swaybar on my '00 is actually stiffer than the CR, and the front bar is seemingly about the same (but hard to compared because '00 one is slightly smaller but thicker).

BMW Z4 cost too much.

Audi TT convert cost too much.

Nissan 350Z convert cost too much.

Base Boxster cost too much.

3 series and A4 converts cost too much.

etc...

The price is right as of 2007. The thing is in 2000 the S2000 was under-priced because it raped the competition for a fraction of the price.

Except now the Z4, Audi, 370Z, Boxter all have a LOT more performance than they did in 2000, for ABOUT the same money.

The S2000 is largly unchanged.

I was surprised to see the regular '08 will get the CR wheel.

I like the wheels (it's about the only thing about the CR I do like.)

It just seems to make the CR less special and even MORE "gimicky."

I really don't like the direction Honda has taken the S2000.

I am sure this has been discussed somewhere back in the past 30 pages...... but I ain't reading it.

I thought the front was a new bumper but looking at these larger pics... its just a lip. You can see the gasket just like with the other lips....

Judging by how many people hate the idea of CR, looks like it will flop and $5-10k off MSRP could be a reality on these models.

Not likely, because the dealers aren't going to be forced to buy any in the first place. They'll stock a few of the standard S2000's and special order you a CR if you want to buy one.
