I would much rather spend the extra 4-5 grand and get a new 335xi. And since it is going to be a "limited edition" type car I doubt theyre going to sell below MSRP, so I doubt theyre going to sell period.

New sport compact car has an article about the cr. A segment that caught my attention was the following, which talks about the new chassis bracing in the cr:

"Deleting the soft top makes room for a rear reinforcement bar, which increases rear lateral chassis stiffness by roughly 11 percent. The steering rack mounting structures were also stiffened with two tubular steel braces, used in conjunction with the CR's 13:8:1 ratio steering rack. All these stiffeners bolt to existing s2000 hard points, but aren't recommended for use with the stock 14:9:1 steering rack, as Honda engineers informed us that it upsets the balance of the regular s2000"

Anyone care to chime in? I don't understand why a stiffer chassis would be a negative with the slower steering, so maybe someone could explain that to me.

The original Ap1 however does have the same 13:8:1 steering ratio, so if someone wanted to incorperate these bracing features it wouldn't be a problem.

I would assume the result with the Ap2 would be more magnified understeer with the slower turning ratio. Some rear chassy flex should alow the car to want to over steer more, cutting in alowing the front to titen its steering angle as the car twist I would think. This is the handling balance they could be refurring to. There are or more then one factor involved i'm sure. I haven't read the article your reffuring to.

$36,300 is the MSRP for the car, you should be able to buy it all day long at that price, and probably a discount off that price if you are good negotiator.
Yeah. You know the history of the BMW E36 LTW M3? They came out with a stripped M3, upgraded suspension, deleted A/C, aero kit, etc. (sound familiar?). And then they slapped an extra few thousand onto the MSRP.

So what happened? The cars sat on the lot.

They are actually worth a substantial amount more now than a regular E36 M3, but at the time nobody wanted to pay extra for a stripped car.

I forsee the same thing happening with the CR. Dealers will get one to show off, then they will wait and wait and wait for somebody to buy it.

I don't think any "stripped" Integra Type-Rs sat around on the any dealer lots though. IIRC most everyone had to pay at least MSRP (if not more) to get one.

Isn't it the other way around? I would expect that chassis flex at the rear would cause the car to understeer. Think about a thicker front anti-roll bar. It increases understeer tendency. A thicker rear anti-roll bar, on the other hand, increases oversteer tendency.

No. The soft top, even when completely retracted, still sticks up above the plane of the deck lid, which is pretty much flush with the rear cowl cover on the CR.
