first time in a ap2
really ...look at the sales of the cars over the yrs ..the AP1 outsold the AP2 in all yrs ...so u may friend have the facts wrong ...an ap2 is just an ap1 wanna be ...lol ...plus my ap1 is not slow at all I've raced on the track many ap2s ...they all lost by mid way down the track ..everyone ...every time...so faster in the 1/4 mile is a drivers race at best
...and my car sounds better passing an ap2 ...way better imo ...look the car was meant to rev to 9k ...except here where it had to be "dumbed down" to increase sales
...which in turn it did the reverse ...ap1s outsold ap2s ..why ...we all know why ..at least at 9k its clear to us

You need to learn how to use ellipsis. It's not a period that wants to bring its friends along to the end of the sentence, for every sentence.
And I'm pretty sure for virtually every car ever made (except limited production), as the model gets older, the sales dwindle.
they all lost by mid way down the track ..everyone ...every time...so faster in the 1/4 mile is a drivers race at best
I don't think anyone is getting "butt-hurt" about anything. There are some people who use specific phrases to push buttons (ie. "dumbed-down", [shaking head]), but overall, it's a discussion of opinions... no one is more right than the other. There are SOME factual things that people are confusing with opinions, but that's the beauty of forums.

Ap2 is faster on a track and in a straight line...end of story. If you want an ap1 you couldn't afford an ap2. I thought. We establish this way back when.

bought an AP1 for the reasons above, and test drove an
AP2 because I thought about BUYING ONE. Fanboys will
always defend what they drive, I understand, it's ok. I
guess I must be a fanboy of the AP1 huh, lmfao. I'll be sure to keep in mind next time I spend 100k+ on a car that I can't afford a 15-20k AP2....
AP2 has better looking front and rear bumpers (reason why every ap1 is doing ap2 bumpers) Every AP1? I like my AP1 bumpers. Better looking? Opinion
AP2 has better headlights and taillights(reason why all ap1 want ap2 light) Better? Technically the AP1 projectors have a sharper, brighter cutoff line due to the clear lenses verses the AP2 fresnel lenses. Do the AP2 headlights look better? Matter of opinion as well.
AP2 has waaay better interior, AP1 looks way dated Opinion. Some prefer the more classic roadster look of the AP1 interior. 2 cupholders? Any real sports car doesn't need a single cup holder, they are only there because lazy consumers demand them.
AP2 has a nicer/more modern looking cluster Opinion, Many AP2 owners prefer the larger tach of the Ap1 because it is significantly easier to see while racing due to it's size and centered orientation.
AP2 has bigger/better looking wheel, forget those chessy little 16inch wheels look like there from a prelude. Larger wheels hurt perforamnce, more unsprung mass and the tires cost more in 17" so many AP2 owners are rocking all season tires that cost the same as good ultra high performance summer tires in 16" sizes. So you get a "nicer" looking wheel at a trade off because the market demanded it, all newer cars are coming stock in oversized wheels that do not help performance.
AP2 has a ten time better tranny, shit feels way smoother and has carbon syncro. My Ap1 shifts smooth as silk and was named one of the best gear boxes in the world when the 2000 MY came out. I would prefer an AP2 transmission for it's gear ratios but it is only marginally better and not worth the upgrade cost.
AP2 are faster on a track and on a 1/4 mile race....also trap higher speeds too(this has been proven) Slightly, yes. Huge difference with equal drivers? no.
AP2 have more whp. There has been dyno plot after dyno plot to prove that f22c put more whp down that the f20c even though they are rated about the same. An extra 1,000 rpms in VTEC on the F20C between shift points helps compensates for the small power advantage.
AP2 has more torque. True. Minimal.
AP2 has a better powerband and makes more power over the entire rpm range vs the f20c. Undeniable. But once again it is only minimal, not a huge jump the market would expect from a car in production for 10 years.
AP2 has a stronger diff
should I keep going on?????Ap1 has a whoppin 1k over the rpms...

^ The amount of opinion given as fact in this post is off the chart! lol. I love the AP1 and I love the AP2 but you make the AP1 sound like an abomination to the S2000 name! The Ap1 is the original S2000, the one Honda intended when they decided to build a true enthusiast's roadster. Competition and the demands of the market played a part in the AP2 cosmetic and drivetrain changes, the final production AP1's were near perfect the way Honda had envisioned the car.

AP1 + 1,997 cc = S2000
AP2 + 2,157 cc
S2000 but S2200....J/K

.Also the retainers are better too. fyi
Within the past two years, I have owned both an AP2 and AP1. I had the AP2 first. In my opinion, the AP2 had some nice add-ons such as larger tires and more grip, better headlights, smoother tranny with better gear ratios.
But, none of these things have any impact on the parts of the driving experience I care about (expect maybe the larger tires), and driving experience is why I bought the s2000. Comparing the cars stock, whatever that is worth on this car forum, the ap1 is simply more rewarding, exciting, and challenging to drive. I think this is likely due to the quicker steering, raw suspension, and the 9k red-line. Obviously these cars can be modified to your personal preferences. But regardless of my opinion, the passion s2ki members have on this board is no doubt some indication of the cars greatness.

proven fact: ap1's cost less to purchase (same miles obv.): therefore they are more likely to be bought by younger owners that are less mature and start stupid threads like this... just sayin'
seriously though cant we all just get along
