Mine about 10 months old....between 10-15 inches does it for me all the time.

Funny you mention this hood deal because I tried mine today at about 5 inches or so and bingo it latched.
When I first got it 2 foot drops were required. It took a few months to break in.
Congrats on your purchase they are great fun....

Absolutely.

When I went to get my car, the salesman was showing me the engine bay and it was I who had to show him how to close the hood properly
