Default Intake question !

This is a stupid question but what is an intake? What does do to the car? Would it be "ok" to install into a new car? How much would it be? Thank you so much

EVERY street car normally has an "intake". An intake comprises of all the stuff from the air filter box, air filter, accompanying tubing and hoses, all the way to your throttle body. Your car already has an "intake".
I believe what you are trying to ask is "What is a Cold Air Intake (CAI)". This is just another intake that aids in getting air from a place that isn't heated up by anything that on the car that produces heat. HOT air is bad.
Some CAIs are also "performance" intakes, which means that they are designed to channel air more effectively into the engine and thus, produce more hp.

Thank you Xviper. How much would it be for a set of CAI including installation? Would it be worth it for a new car?

"Worth it" for any car, new or older, is a personal perception. Also, how much it will cost will depend on which one you choose. It will also depend on how much alterations you will tolerate for your car. An AEM tpe will involve cutting of some plasticwork. You may not want this. The K&N FIPK is a very popular brand of CAI as is the Comptech. Both are on the higher end of pricing. Or you could elect to keep the stock intake but make is a CAI by adding a "snorkel" (Spoon is the original but there are clones), but this too, requires some cutting. Or you can go to ebay and find a generic CAI for a fraction of the cost of the brand name stuff.
Only you can decide which way you want to go. CAI can cost you a hundred bucks to several hundreds of bucks. I've given you some names to do some more homework. Go look them up and see which one you like best.

If you are going to buy one, you will find that intakes from previous model years do not bolt right up to 2006 models. With modification some will work, but if you do not know what you are doing, I'd suggest just waiting until 2006 specific intakes are made. I believe AEM and others are working on one and should be available shortly.
