I've done 5 hours straight in my 03 and didn't feel it was too tiring and I'm not a small guy. Guess it is what you compare it too used to have a crotch rocket and that would take a toll on me on the few 5 hour trips I took it on.

i feel sorry that A: your longest trip in the S2000 was a 2h trip to the beach. and B: that it takes you two hours to get to a beach

i am never more than 15-20 minutes from a beach...(a good beach... i can get to shitty beaches in 3 min from the house)

10 min after i took delivery of my s2k i embarked on a 3.5 hour trip home, and later that summer took it on a another similar length weekend getaway.

as far as longest roadtrip in general i just completed penticton,BC to charlottetown,PE (5500km), and about 10 years ago we did Charlottetown,PE to Los Ageles (6000+km)

5 hours on a crotch rocket is impressive. I used to ride every Sunday, followed by a long nap.

I drove from the west Chicago burbs to CA and a few other southwest states by myself in my S2000 with recaro pole positions and KW V3's and a T1R 70EM (earplugs are key).

I drove like 13-15 hour stretches in one shot. Chicago to Sterling CO was my first non-stop leg of the trip, for example.

The longest leg I've ever done was probably something like 20 hours. That's about my limit till I need to stop and stretch for a while out/rest for 2-3 hours.

I'm not normal, though. I rarely get tired doing anything haha.

My wife and I took a trip from SLC, UT to Phoenix AZ, 1200+ mile round trip 9.5 hours each way. She won't be taking any more long trips in the s2k. No place to put "stuff" only one cup holder. Loud cabin noise at 80+mph. It was a tiring trip. If it were me by myself, it would be okay, but next time we go together we are taking the TSX. Happy wife = happy life.

when I picked up my MY00, drove 1,100 miles from Scottsdale AZ to Austin TX in August of 2011. few the AZ, hung out the hotel/casino, then hopped in the car which I purchased from my dad friend. and drive it all the to Austin in one day.

fixed the wind noise from the OEM softie strikers by Tucson. took my belt off, removed the buckle, and place it between the top and the windshield. worked like a charm.

after that, probably some of the central Texas cruises with the subforum. now I have a hardtop and about 40-50 lbs of sound deadening in the car. exponential difference for cruising. wonder how much quieter it would be if I sound deadened the hardtop.

Tires made a huge difference for me. I got Michelin Pilot Super Sports, which made the ride much better and the noise was greatly reduced.

Since my spine doesn't get constantly jarred, I feel less fatigued at my destinations.

If I have to do a long trip I do it with the top up whether I'm on country roads of highways. Being exposed to the sun for long periods of time drains my energy throughout the day. I have done trips that take 7 hours to complete and don't feel tired that way.

On the other end, I have done trips with hot days with top down with 2 hours on the road each way and by the end of the day I'm exhausted.

I feel that long trips can easily be done if I take into consideration that factor.

After taking several crazy trips with crazy people (and by my crazy self), I will admit that Chicago to NYC or Toronto Canada (non stop) is a lot easier in a soft, quiet TSX with Michelin SS's or Conti DW's than it is in my S2000. The type of car with the right tires (as someone else mentioned) makes a big difference.

I'm still DTF (down to frollic) 15-20 hours or so, non stop in my S2000 before I reach my "gotta stop and take a nap for a couple hours" limit.

The worst trip I ever did was 32 hours in a furniture/music equipment packed civic on 2 hours of sleep..and several hours of partying in Vegas.

I've also flown to TN from Chicago, picked up my ITR, and driven it back to a house party in the Chicago burbs all on the same day.

what sleep do doe?
