Edmunds lists the "True Market Value" at 28k -private party.
I'd start there.

That is your best bet. Good luck with sale, too bad you are selling it.

Okay so heres the story...

I didnt plan on purchasing/start looking for S2000's until early next year. I currently own a 2002 Wrangler Sport w/ 63k. My plan was to sell the Wrangler, privately. I would use that cash to purchase a Ap1 S2000 within my price range.

Today I saw a 2000 S2000 w/ 77k, 3 owner car, for sale on eBay, locally. I called the dealer and gave them the details on my Jeep. I'm still awaiting the sales person to call me back. I mentioned to him that I would be interested in a straight trade. I do not intend on adding anything on top. Mainly because my search is premature.

The KBB on my Jeep is just under 10. Realistically speaking, I could sell the car for $8500-$9500. The KBB on the S is around $10,500 including the HT.

so the pro's of this deal are:
-its a fairly reasonable distance - about 1 hour away from my current location
-it looks to be in good condition (before visual inspection)
-low miles (for the year)
-HARD TOP INCLUDED!!
-I bought my Jeep because it was a "too good to pass up on" deal. I'm really not in love with it.
-I've been dreaming of owning a S for almost 4 years.

so the negs of this deal are:
-w/o the hardtop, the S may be worth LESS than my Jeep, but to me the monetary loss of around $500-$1000 seems worth it.
-its got 77000 miles. I ultimately wanted to purchase something with sub 50k. BUT for the year its low..its a MY00.
-Condition, it looks to be in good condition from the pics, the only thing I could see is the interior looks like it needs to be shampooed and vacuumed. and the headlights are a bit foggy...

My jeep is in mint condition. It has some of the normal plastic fading and the interior plastic is slightly faded, but its solid and runs like a top. For a straight trade, what do you guys think?

heres the link.

I got my 02 with 46k for 12 a year ago. Great deal I thin. Gpw goes for more but I would offer way low for a beginning wager then work from there

The car offered is actually Silverstone, I believe. I would usually offer low, then work up. But my current offer is a straight trade for an 10k Jeep. I dont think they'd even listen to me if I asked them to add cash on top of the S.

I drove this one just a few hours ago. It was gaudy. The apexi exhaust was SO LOUD. It had the msot annoying droan(sp?) at around 45mph. People were giving me looks at the first stop light. There were wires all over the car that the dealer couldnt tell me what they were. Car had a AEM intake, AP2 wheels, and some sort of aftermarket springs that were bouncy as hell. From about 10 feet away, the car looked really nice. It was a clean Silverstone AP1. Long story short, I pulled it out of the dealer lot, drove it for about 5 minutes and turned around and went back. A bit disappointed, but I guess I'll keep looking.

isn't $12k for 117000 miles too high of a price in the States anyway? i paid $12k for mine with 98,000 miles here in Vancouver, BC..

^ oh yeah its wayy over priced. The dealer told me he had taken it in as a trade valued at $8500..then a few days later the transmission gave out so he spent ~$2800.00 to put a new tranny..he had it on the window priced at $13995, he said he dropped it to $11,800 for a quick sale, he said he'd let me have it for around $11000. Even $11000 is way too much for a car in that condition. If I had to buy it because it was the last S on earth, I wouldn't pay more than $6000 for it.
