Im currently looking at a MY00 with 125k on body 80k on engine. Engine is a MY03 swap. Previous engine dropped a valve due to cracked retainer. Current owner did swap himself. May be worth mentioning that owner is a mechanic. Carfax does say it has had 5 owners including present owner. But looking at it, it seems one of the owners was a dealership. Every previous owner has owned it for a year or more. Current owner has owned it for 3 years. Top does have a tear in it. Rear window is glass. There is a reported accident but according to carfax it was with a ditch and had minor damage. Also, carfax reports vehicle was registered in 2005 in a county declared a flood disaster. This could mean flood damage but not necessarily. Car originally from Louisiana and Im pretty sure 05 was when Katrina came through so that has me a little worried. Going to take a look at it tomorrow. Seller wants no less than $8k for it. What do you guys think?

Traded my 01 in last year towards a 2010 GTI for the family, just got into a 2004 with 49k miles, great body, immaculate interior, 2-3 little paint chips dealer covered up (but you can still tell if you look hard enough) and paid 16400 out the door, blue booked at 17,900. Btw, AP2 FTW!!!!! (joking, just always wanted to do that)

Hi All,

Ive been trying to keep my eyes out for a good S2K to purchase, mostly for fun/track use. I found a black on black 2004 S2000 with 145,000 miles. They are asking $11,450. It seems to be working alright, it shifts through every gear smoothly, and it revs up to 7.5k fine (only tested in 2nd gear). It does look really rough around the edges though. The back right quarter panel seems to not be fitted properly, and there are scratches all over the car, and a pretty nice sized scuff on the back left (probably scraped against a wall or something). When looking under the hood it looks like the serpentine belt is over due for a changing.

Any thoughts? I was thinking if I could talk them down to $8,500 I would purchase it. What do you all think about it at the $12,000 price point. It seems to drive fine, just cosmetically needs some work.

Thanks,
~Dave

Is $23.5 for 2007 with 8k miles from private seller worth it? Or 2006 with 16k miles for $20500 from dealer. Which would you go for?

both seem like a good deal. I would get the 06 with only extra 3k miles you save $3k. And you can probably talk the dealer into giving you extended warranty.
