-Official- Is this car worth it thread
Sorry for posting this for the second time. I'm looking at a 2005 Sebring Silver, red/black interior with 47k miles. The car looks pretty clean from the pictures with a clean carfax. Its listed at a dealership for $17500 now. My budget is somewhere between 15-16k max.
Would $15k be a reasonable offer and work my way up from there? What do you guys think this car is worth? This is a three owner car which could work to my advantage plus the end of year is coming up. I'm looking to buy this thing in the next 2 weeks so it would be great if you guys could share some opinions
Thanks

I have three potential purchases, but am wondering which is the best deal and smartest purchase.
First:
00' Silverstone 45k miles. Had a front right end accident but repaired professionally.
Price : 9500
Second:
00' Silverstone 80k miles. Salvage from theft, no accidents. Glass top.
Price: 9500
Third:
00' NFR 82k miles with spoon replica top. Soft top removed but comes with car.
Salvage from rear corner accident in 2003, current pictures dont show damage.
Price: 7700.

New to S2000 world so I need some advice. I just sold my mx5 and decided an s2k would be something to consider. I test drove one yesterday and all I can say is WOW...the car is a beast and now I must have one!! This will be my DD, about 15 miles each way and a mix of highway and city driving and in total I average about 10K per year on my work car. I have another vehicle for when the weather is bad although I plan to drive this through winter otherwise. I am looking at staying under 12K if at all possible (in the midwest) but would consider a bit more if I had to in order to get a reliable and nice looking ride. I dont want someone elses problem. I am pretty sold on the 2002 and up due to the upgrades that year received but would consider a 2000 or 2001 that had a good glass window. Coming from an mx5, I think the 2002's upgrades to prevent oversteer would be in my best interest but this is speculation.
The one I test drove is at a dealer and is a 2002 silver with black interior. The car was in an accident with "moderate" damage in 2010 per the autocheck report. If you stand in the right light you can see a bit of wave in the reflection directly over the rear wheel which is due to the way it was repaired versus replaced. It is VERY hard to see and I consider it to be a pretty good job, just illustrating what I see. No one would notice this. The pass front fender has a run in it about the size of a half dollar. The paint overall is very shiny and in great shape because it has been repainted for the most part so it looks REALLY good. No dents, dings, etc. Top has a 1" hole directly in line with the drivers side top latch. Top looks ok otherwise. Seats are worn a bit but not bad at all and probably normal for the age and miles...they are acceptable. Car has 99K miles and I can verify no service history. The check engine light is on but the dealer said they would fix whatever is causing it. The dealer offers no warranty but is a reputable dealer locally. It drove fantastic although I will say once vtec kicked in I somewhat lost my objectivity on the rest of the drive and evaluation as I was just having fun. They are asking 10,900 and said they would come down a few hundred more but that was it. Their price was 11900 but their "internet" price was 10900.
I thought considering it needs a top which I have never done and it needs a major service that the price is high. I offered 9.5K which I am sure they wont accept. What is a good price on this car and also is this something I should pass on and keep looking? Frankly, edmunds, nada, kelley...they are all over the place and so are the prices I see cars for sale for. This is a vehicle that is not as cut and dry on price as a normal vehicle so I would appreciate any help. I know this was long but wanted full disclosure for informed answers. Thanks.
