Thank you sir! I made a search and found 5-6 threads explaining the issue and fix, however, they are going by engine number and not VIN. Since I pick up the car this week, I don't have the engine number, but I do have the VIN though which ends in 007790. The car sounded and ran like new when I test drove it. I was able to listen to a cold start all the way to warm up as well. I also ran multiple reports on it and they came back without red flags - it's a 1-owner machine. Also, it was first registered back in 08/2002, and I'm hopeful that it is a later build - I know that the fact that it was registered in August does not necessarily indicate it's a late build.

Just a hypothesis, but if it was manufactured in say Feb/ March 2002 ( check driver door jam) , u might be ok. A lot of Hondas I have bought have been manufactured in that model year. For example MY2002 would be manufactured in March 2002 instead of Nov. 2001. My Si MY2008 was actually manufactured in April 2008. I don't what month they start with the next model year.

Hey guys. Just sold my WRX and searching for a s2000 I've found 2 that have sparked my interest
2000 w/ 75k original miles
2003 w/ 100k
Both are $11,500
The 2000 has no mods and the 2003 only has skunk 2 lowering springs.
Both are Black
The 2000 is 1 owner
The 2003 is 3 owner
Both are well taken care of it seems and they have little to no paint flaws.
Are there any major differences between 2000's and 2003's that I should look out for?
Also which would you guys recommend?

Drive both cars, there's a good chance that you will prefer one over the other.

Check out the sticky that shows you what you should look for. Make sure to see if they have maintenance history and see if you can get the price lowered on either one.
