Asking for $20,000, should I bite? I am a bit worried that it has a lot of miles, but I know Honda has a reputation for running a long time. Thanks for input!
Wow 20k is way to much for car with 70k on it , but it is GPW ...so maybe somebody would be so foolish to buy it at that price ...you should keep looking IMO

U live in Florida. Plenty of S2000's to choose from, don't limit your self. 2003 is the best year for Ap1's.
2002-2003 are EXACTLY the same.
wrong ...depends on the build date

lv how ppl "know" so much when it comes down to facts ..most ppl don't really know much when u ask for details ..perfect example ...why state facts with a lack of knowledge

I found a 2004 S2000 with 94XXX miles. Dealer is asking 15,500, but has no service records. Just from my first look I know it needs a battery, 90,000 mile service, front and rear rotors/pads. I am thinking with 94xxx I should also have the front and rear suspension done. I am getting a PPI and compression test to see if anything else comes up. I think $15,500 is fair if they do all the work or around $13,000 without it. Does that sound reasonable?

That sounds pretty horrible and I dunno if you like the AP1's but there are a few in Miami with under 50,000 miles for $14k

And noogin, don't tell him that, I am looking at that one lol
Coulple things....not sure what you mean by "have the front and rear suspension done". Rotors may be fine. Not sure what PPI is, but I'm probably just spacing out. Generally, the sales area doesn't like making deals involving service or parts cause they are separate areas with seperate accounting practices, but it may be different at every dealer.

really the only thing i think the AP2's have as far as advantage is better retainers and a better PCV system so they dont burn oil like AP1's....i had a 220whp all motor type r that drank oil and it was a fresh build so i dont think the AP1 oil consumption is actually an issue(at least to me)...as far as which one to buy, thats entirely up to you...it is a honda and these cars are still very reliable if maintained properly in higher mileage...good luck and welcome back
4000 things were changed from ap1 to ap2.
better retainers ..if u can't drive and over rev your car

more facts ...lol ..with no knowledge ..gotta love the internet , where everyone is a pro ...pro at BS thats about it

Mid-Year production 02 and 03's are the exact same car. The early 02's did not have the updated oil banjo bolts and there was a few other small tings that were updated mid year. This is a thread on these forums breaking down the VIN numbers of cars with and without these changes. Locate that thread, and when purchasing an 02' make sure it comes after a VIN that shows it had the updates. Or just swap the bolts your self.

No it's not, and I wasn't the one who claimed it was. I didn't see your most recent post and I was trying to clarify what the guy who said they were the same was trying to say. I was agreeing with what you were saying, but trying to explain the actual differences instead of just telling the guy he was wrong. I also figured it would be good to give the correct information out as well as a way to help the OP determine if the car he was looking at had the updates.

I should have know better than to try and help someone out on these forums.

Your information is very welcome and in fact relevant to my thread, since I ended up getting the 2002 car; but now I am left wondering if I have the one with the updated bolts....I surely hope I do. I pick up the car sometime mid-week so the first thing I will be doing is checking for this update. If the thread that you suggest breaks it down by VIN, then I should be able to know right away - I will be checking after I finish this reply.

Thank you for the valuable information and please don't get discouraged from helping others. I come from a forum that was much of a nightmare due to all the idiots whining in it, and I always thought that the S2000 community is a much more grounded, level-headed one, which is why I'm going into my 3rd S2000

Thanks again!

The thread breaks it out by people who own the 02's, what there VIN number is, and if they have the updated parts. If your VIN number is after someone who's is less than yours and they have the updated items you should be fine. The only real way to know though is by opening things up and actually checking your self.

I'm heading to lunch. If you don't find it by the time I get back I'll see what I can do about locating it for you.
