I don't think I'd every buy a used car from a dealership, paying a premium + tax is just a deal breaker.
In TX, and I suspect most other states, you have to pay tax whether you buy from a dealer or a private party.

what's the condition, do you have a link to the advertisement, some members here have a real keen eye for spotting cars that have been in accident's just from looking at body panels, how they align and subtle change in colors of panels, and this just from looking at the photographs.

ceteris paribus, looks like a decent asking price. Did you test drive it, how's the drive train. Any mechanical problems that were disclosed to you or that you became aware of while looking at the car?

where are you located, i simple kkb search shows that cars on the west coast can command a higher price than a car on the east coast.

i found a couple "ok" deals in my area but i want to double check if they're even "ok" deals.

I found a GPW my00 with red/black interior, 128k salvage for 8kobo. I want to check the vin to make sure why its salvage. can anyone help me out?

I also found a MY02 with 94k on it, salvage, blue and black interior and blue exterior. I would also need to check its vin =/
i don't know anything about salvage titles, but my suggestion is that you take a qualified mechanic with you to inspect the vehicle. Now if it's a decleared salvage because it had it's top slashed and seats stolen, it could be a very good deal, no structural damage to the car.

but for a grand more you might be able to find a clean title one, heck, maybe a clean title 2000 for 8k.

information is too vague, ask if he's a member on s2ki and check his post, see if there is any history on s2ki with the car. Tell him to send you high quality images of engine bay with vins and other body panels with the vins. Get a carfax and if that satisfies you go look at the car, if you can take a mechanic with you to inspect the car, maybe even a body specialist, do so, but you don't have too. Once you're satisfied with what you see, before you hand over the money, take it for a test drive, get a leak down test, compression test, check that all the buttons work, top operation with windows rolling own with the top.

price wise it's a decent price if the car is in good shape, you don't want to blow an engine or have a clutch slipping after only a few months of ownership.

Price is a little too high considering the mileage. In my area anyway.
