-Official- Is this car worth it thread
hey everyone, i think i may have found the one!
its a 2003 Silverstone w/ Black int. has 35,xxx miles for $16000. does this sound like a good deal? its about 140 miles away so im relying on pictures at the moment and they look promising. The exterior and interior appear stock.

I found an S2K 2002 Silverstone with 90K miles and he's asking 9K. He recently placed in new tires, cat, battery, 02 censor, and pipes. The car has a decent sound system and cheap rims but all in all that's an easy fix to revert back to stock. I was wondering what's the best price or he's right on. I'd love to own an S2K as a weekend car and I believe I found the one but wasn't too sure about pulling the trigger yet until I get some opinions.
Thanks
Thanks
Basic info:
Car is a 07 s2000 with a CR Conversion, has lip, bumper, trunk, and interior.
First owner: Sold it all janky like key wouldnt start the car and the key wouldnt unlock the trunk.
Went to a dealership had the car reprogrammed to work with the key. trunk still doesnt work with key.
Seller (2nd owner) telling me the dealer says the car works 100% fine the engine is perfect etc etc....
etc...
www.nicb.org vincheck came up with this message
VIN
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX has been identified as a vehicle listed in the VINCheckSM Salvage Records.
Date of loss: 2008-06-22
Cause of loss: Theft/Stripped
but CARFAX says its clean and everything is legit.
so how is this possible? pretty sure car was involved in theft but it wasnt reported to the dmv?
should i just avoid this car?
Thank you,

Alright, lets get down to basics here....
Trunk may not work because it is a valet key.
"Theft/Stripped" is actually pretty common on the S2000 world, because they often get broken into and stolen for parts, however the shell is left in tact. My guess from the CR conversion is that the car was stripped of its bumpers, headlamps, seats, panels, etc and when it was put back together the owner decided to do a CR swap.
Not uncommon, nothing to get upset about, just keep in mind when it's time for you to sell the car, you'll have to do the same explaining.
Also, if you provide us with some more information about the car, i.e. location, you'll probably find that at least one of the owners was on this website.
