i couldn't let go of my '02 a few months back for $9500.

facking buyers were haggling down like crazy, now look at the prices.

I hate this car, but I can't wait to get back into another one, maybe in another five years, for now, I'm out of the game.

but asking price is way to high, 12k would be reasonable, not great for an '01 with that many miles, but reasonable, IMO.

Driver and passenger seats seem to be in a bad shape for a 54,000 mile. Is this normal?

Id have to see it in person to say for sure, but my car only has 38k on it, and theres a good amount of wear on the driver side torso bolster on the left side. The wear was there when I bought it at 32k. THe wear isnt in the same spot, but from what ive seen the seats dont age well. You would definitely have to see it in person to decide if theyre too worn for you to put up with.

Hello,

First of all, sorry for the re-post. I posted this under Introductions and I don't think it was the right section to post this under. So I'm asking my question here.

I'm not really much of a forum person and it's been a while since I last posted on a forum. I joined here because I had some quick questions about s2k's. I hope you can help me!

Some background info/introduction: I don't own a s2k just yet, but I am currently looking around to buy one. I've never owned a sports car, but I've had an '02 s40 1.9 for a while now- which in my opinion- isn't fast compared to what I've driven.

After driving my friend's sporty porsche, my s40 seemed boring... So I'm looking to buy a more sporty car. Some reviews I've read claim that s2000's are better than Boxsters?

Anyways, my question is this: what do you guys consider is a "steal" or a good buy for a 2001 s2000?? I found one on the web for $10,900 and it has 76,000 miles. Naturally, I'm not sure where to begin negotiating with dealers. I can also pay in cash/whole without financing, so take that into consideration as well..

Here's a link: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national

It doesn't necessarily have to be this particular s2k, I can buy whichever- but my budget/family won't allow anything more than $12,000 for a weekend toy.

Thanks for your help!

that's not a steal. Go look at a few, you'll see a drastic difference in condition. I think $8K is a steal, but if it needs new paint and interior, you won't be saving any money. Good luck.

Hey guys, i could use your help on buying an s2000.
this guy is selling his for 12500.
its an ap1 my2001, black on black
has 49000 miles on it and its pretty much perfect inside and out.
engine sounds really great, but the thing is the rear tires need to be replaced with newer treads.
do you all think this is a good deal?

That sounds like a pretty fair deal. With that amount of miles on an AP1, you know the car was driven enough to be maintained well, but not used too much for commuting and the like. But the most important thing is whether or not you like it. If it's what you're looking for and it's in good shape, go for it.

So, i have been lurking this forum for about a month or so trying to soak in all the information possible before i find a good deal on what will be my first S2000. Last night i believe i found it. Here are some of the details..

Black/Black 2004 31,000 miles

One owner

Never been driven in rain or snow (According to her)

Always parked in the garage

No accidents.

All scheduled maintenance done.

Oil changes every 3,000

Said there are a few small scratches, She is sending me pictures sometime today

New rear tires...

reason for selling: She has two brand new grand children and wont be driving it much.

Seems to be completely stock.

Says there is nothing wrong with the car.

Asking $15,800

Sound good but you need to check it out in person.

About the price.
No matter what you post people will say it’s too high.

Just be prepared for the:
“That’s too much, I got an ‘04 for *(much less than you) out the door”

go check it out and keep an eye out for others. you might come across a great deal
