Looking at a nearby GPW\tan, 2005. Looks clean with the exception of aftermarket hood. Low miles and overall great shape. Single owner and 2 accidents on car fax, as follows:

1. Accident reported: Involving right front impact , It hit another motor vehicle
2. Accident reported: Involving rear impact

Looking at these pics I noticed that the gap is larger between the front end of door and front fender on passenger side when compared to driver side, is this something I should stay away from? Or maybe its just the angle? Car is a little over an hour away, wondering if it's worth taking a look. Independent joe-blow dealer has it priced at NADA dealer\retail value for year\mileage.

That's definitely a fix where the door is, the gap is wider than normal
Unless you're getting a really good deal out of this vehicle, stay away from vehicles that have unclean carfax
When I was on my hunt for my S2000, I only looked for clean ones, and I can tell you even the ones with clean carfax can be in a lot of s**t
Definitely suggest getting the vehicle checked by an independent mechanic

If you're ok with a car that has crashed before (carfax showing "accident" instead of "minor accident" is usually rather big)
Then go test drive it and really feel the transmission and engine yourself

My guess would be that the front end damage involved the right front fender as well, and the new fender didn't get installed with the same precision as the original. So that may not be something that I would worry about too much. The fender mounts can be loosened and the fender adjusted. What I would be more worried about would be what, if anything, of the damage to the front end I could see from under the car or from the engine compartment. What the imprecision may represent was damage to an inside body panel (that the fender is attached to) that was not replaced. If inside body panels were damaged then maybe there are alignment issues with the suspension. Before I would proceed with this I would want to know the full extent of the damages (with pictures) and the repairs that were effected. I don't like the fact that it is a dealer that is selling the car - this means that the original owner who had the accident has passed along any continuing issues to a purchaser from the dealer which may not make themselves known until after the dealer's warranty epxires. Was this the dealer that repaired the vehicle? Lots of potential issues here which may be resolvable or not. I wouldn't buy unless they can all be resolved.

It is for sale at a privately owned dealer like 'Joes Auto Sales', meaning the car was most likely picked up at an auction. I don't feel comfortable buying a car without a clean car-fax either but it is not always indicative of a bad car; my AP1 was involved in verrry minor incidents, one in which another car turned into my lane hitting my right front corner (very minor body damage) and another where I found someone brushed against my car while parked at work..police came for both incidents and on my carfax were 2 accidents. I do not plan to re-sell my next S2000 so I can care less about re-sale value once its in my hands..what does worry me is not knowing exactly what happened and if the proper repairs were completed; potential frame damage and alightment issues scare me especially. And I don't think the car was dumped by the owner because of issues related to the accident, the dates of the accidents were included in the carfax 03/10/2006 and 09/07/2007 and the original owner did not part with it until march 2012.

What I would suggest is getting it checked by an independent mechanic
It usually ranges from $30-$50 (At least the ones I know around my city in Canada), they'll check for frame damage and other possible problems
What you should do (and I regret not doing it back when I bought mine) is tell the dealer you're serious about the vehicle, but won't be purchasing it till you get everything checked. Tell them you'll borrow it for an hour to get inspected at a mechanic of your choice.
If they refuse to let you do that, you should simply give up on the vehicle. Most car dealers are more than happy to let you do it since they know you are serious about the vehicle if you are willing to put out that money to do an inspection.

I want to buy an s2000 and came across this one.
it is :
2007 gpw s2000 one owner 43k miles with red and blk interior

its all fixed up of coarse and i want to offer $14k for it. The car looks F-ing amazing right now. but i have before pix, so what do you guy think? s it worth it? or should i hold out and be patient and dig through the classifieds. I have a budget of $18k cash money max maxxx for an 04+ s2k. i want to stay around 16k.

he car looks great now, interior is still oem and top is in wonderful condition. The damage is from rear ending a pick up truck thus folding up the hood. AS you see there is minimal damage to the fenders and bumper. let me know your thoughts.

Honestly, that work looks pretty shoddy to me. I would pass on this one, because I could never pay that much for a salvage/rebuilt/etc title. Those things are marred for life.
