The cr has a brace where the soft top goes if im correct, which means as far as i know you cant even install a soft top. Id offer $25k if they ordered a hardtop. $28k is way too much in my opinion, thats used lotus elise territory right there

Not enough info to even post a number that this point. What's the mileage and vehicle history?

I was looking at an '08 Blue S today at a stealership
when a sales associate came over(I think a GM) and informed
myself and the salesman that was showing me the '08 S that
in a couple of days they were going to have an '00 S2000..
with 9K on the odometer!
The guy saw the S I drove up in so he figured
I had to be an enthusiast seeing as how I bypassed all
the Euro-trash(Audi) to look at the lone Honda.

I inquired color..he said for sure silver so I pushed for
interior(always hoping for red!) and he didn't know.

Any guesses where they will price this car?
What do you think is fair/reasonable?

I told hi

So much depends on the condition of the car, you cant really go just by miles. If it's absolutely flawless on the original tires it seems like $17-$20k is the going rate. If it needs a new top, tires, bodywork etc. it's not worth as much.

Just be aware that Honda made a LOT of changes from 2000 to 2009. Read the extensive info in the forum library section if you're not already familiar. Some people like the original car, some people like the newer car. Both are fun in their own way.

I'd pay more for an 03 with <30k miles. Or an 08 with <20k miles. I guess it's cool, but as stated above, a good bit has changed, and in the end your still buying a 12 year old car with 12 year old parts, regardless of mileage.

I paid $17,500 to a private seller for my 2002 with 10,500 miles so I would expect to pay at least that much if not a bit more due to it being sold from a dealership. With dealerships they can get really crazy with prices so who knows.

^ That

You have to remember age is just as important, if not more important, to the car's operating costs. Older parts will fail sooner even if they only have 9000 miles on them. I bet they will ask as much for that 2000 as they are the 08 or very close to it. If that is the case, the 08 is the far better buy from a reliability standpoint assuming similar condition.

$17-18k - If I were selling the car that would be the price I'd sell it at.

I only agree with the above statement regarding '03+ if you are looking to daily drive this car. For a fun weekend car the rear window is not important since the top should be down most of the time and the other upgrades mostly make the car more livable on a daily basis.

There's one thing that confuses me about this: 12 year old tires NEED to be replaced (no matter how much tread they have left). That's especially true for tires on a car like this. You can be sure that I'd never challenge the sidewall of a 12 year old tire.

Sorry for the interruption of this thread. I apologize if I read your comment too literally, but it gives the impression that 12 year old tires are worth something. They aren't worth a dime, IMO.
