Hello S2K soon-to-be-brothas,

I've been on Craigslist like an effing hawk to find the best deals for an S2K. I found this beauty and I'm just wondering what the people who live and breathe this car think.

$10,500 (talked her down from $12,000)
66,000 miles
Never in an accident
Never raced or tracked
COMPLETELY stock
Interior looks super clean, even the seats don't look worn with no cracking or rips and is pure black (not the strange red/blue interior which I don't understand)
Soft top w/ plastic window, perfect condition
Two minor-ish dents
New rear tires, front tires with 10k miles

The lady is selling it because she's moving; to paraphrase her explanation.


Based on this description, what does everyone think? Are there any issues with the MY00 that I should watch out for? I heard this first model has some things that can go wrong that other model years don't have issues with.

A lot of S2Ks seem to have interiors with ripping and wear and tear on the seats especially, so this stood out as a better condition car. She has owned it since it was 31k miles and has not had to do anything to it.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I was doing the same thing until a few weeks ago (stalking CL and AutoTrader). Based on what I saw during this time, 66K is good miles and 10.5K seems very good. What color?

 

Silver Stone with full black interior. I feel you though man, I made a spreadsheet with my top results after searching through thousands of ads (went a little crazy ). Created a scoring system based on a combination of price and mileage and ran the function in Excel. This one is in the top 5 and the interior seems cleaner than the other ones.

After reading this thread ( https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/755...r-differences/ ), it makes me want to wait and get a newer model year. It seems like they added a good bit each year. Not sure if I'm just being picky though. Someone slap me if I am.

 

Depends on what you want. If your a minimalist and want to track your car, get an '03 AP1. If its going to be your DD and you don't mind 50 or so extra pounds, get an '06+ AP2.
