So looking to get my first car & hopes set on an S2K. Have some experience on the wheel I'm not a complete novice & tend to drive around in no rush. Still need some help & tips on S2K maintenance & if the car I'm working on checking out & possibly buying is a good deal & worth the while? So the car is a 2000 model with approximately 90k on the engine. Says it has minor scratches & small dents. The car has a clean title but I'm going to check out records once I see the vehicle. The guy is up for me taking the car to a shop & getting a full diagnostics running on the car including the compression test on it. The cars price? 12,950. I'm not digging the interior but that is the least of my worries. The interior I can fix later on. Thanks again!

Way too expensive. Check the classifieds here for prices and look at the differences in model years. Unless you're some purist or planning on going hardtop only, you don't want the plastic rear window (my00 only).

I've been looking around on the classifieds & digging around Craigslist. All cars are over 100k & just for my loan to go through has to be under the 100k. I simply don't have the cash in hand to pay for it full so the credit union loan with very loan interest is my only option. I've tried to speak to other owners selling their s2ks on craigslist & just find resistance on getting inspections on it. I do expect to convert to hardtop, I really don't go out much & when at work I park my car in front of the store. I even just skimmed over kbb prices & they priced the car at about 13,250 from a private party with the mileage.

You read this right?

I agree that is overpriced. Where are you located? Maybe you need to expand your search area.

Nope just joined so I'm trying to figure out the forums. Well I live in California & I have expanded my search radius to all of Los Angeles county. The guy lives Lancaster, just my guess its about a 1 hour & 30 minute drive from my location.

Try some different banks/credit unions. When I was ready to buy my S my credit union refused to give a loan because it was too old (MY2000). I did some searching around and found a credit union that would not only give the loan regardless of year/miles, but it ended up being a much better interest rate. Go out and get some quotes.

And by the way, it's too expensive.

As always: miles are just miles. Maintenance and care make a much bigger difference. Don't overlook the prior threads on buying. This isn't the first time anyone has asked these questions.
