-Official- Is this car worth it thread - vol. 2
^^ It's been modded. That's definitely not the stock air intake. Looks like CAI but the picture doesn't show the mfg mark on it so hard to tell which one it is.
Hopefully they used blue brake fluid or something, because otherwise the fluid reservoir is looking mighty dark.

Should I take that as a red flag?

^^ The Monterey Park dealer always has about half a dozen S2000s on their lot at any given time. You should just drive over there.
And if you don't find an S2000 you like, they frequently have Lotus Elises and Exiges there too.
Of course their prices are generally off the rails though.

That the car has CAI isn't in and of itself a red flag. It just means you need to go over the entire car carefully because someone has obviously modded it some. Tinted windows. Tinted tail lights. Maybe it's all been done nicely. Maybe not. You at least would have to look carefully. If you aren't particularly car savvy, then you should have it inspected.
Oh... and is the tint legal? In CA you can get ticketed for tinted tail lights. *shrugs* Not saying that alone is a deal breaker either, but it should make you wonder if 1) is running a potentially illegal mod worth it to you and 2) what other potentially illegal mods might the previous owner have decided he was okay with running which you might now be inheriting?

Cool, thanks. I wish I knew someone how was more knowledgable with these when I go take a look at it. I'll have to get the tints removed as I'm in NJ and I had my previous cars tinted but I prefer clear windows on this particular car.

you mean the rear fenders right, they probably had some dubs on them
How about this one?

are those the right seats?

All 4 fenders are trashed on the white one. The ad has been up for a long time and their asking price is laughable.
The Silverstone looks a little off as well. Rear driver side bumper damage, scuffs on front bumper. The seats are wrong as you suggested. 06+ had the new style headrests. So, it might have been broken into, who knows.
