Just saw that. I appreciate the tipoff, but unfortunately that's way over my budget. Sounds like a great car though, especially considering all the work was done by Billman.

I figured it was probably over budget--$21k is approaching brand new car territory. However, a 2006 with under 20,000 miles on the clock and being in overall very good condition, someone is going to get a nice clean car.

Edit: Closer to your price range, a little more wear.

In any case, I'd say the one that you pointed out is worth checking out, especially as it is local. The AP2 is probably just a little out of budget if you are trying to keep it to $15,000 max and still want under 60k miles.
I searched cl, and nothing caught my eye in the area--sorry I couldn't be of more help.

2003 Silverstone Metallic
46,000 miles, completely stock and un-modified with the exception of the eyelids which are easily removable (will be taken off ASAP)
Mature owner, clean seats, recently replaced soft top (with glass rear window and defroster). Asking $16,500, already verbally willing to go down to $15,000.
Haven't met with the owner yet or seen in person, so no idea how it drives. But owner didn't specify any existing problems as of now.
Seems to me like a complete steal, what do you guys think?
$15,000 is approaching fairly clean AP2 territory imo, so I wouldn't call this a complete steal. It's hard to say if it's worth it or not though, and the badge on the back looks tacky.

For $15,000 an AP1 without a hardtop should be pretty much perfect in my view--mine was in very nice shape when I got it, and I still paid less.
Thanks for the info. The market around me would disagree with you on price though. You won't find an AP1 with fewer than 100k miles listed anything less than 16500 around here. But I am going to try and get him down at least another 1000. As for the badge, that's easy enough to remove that it didn't even phase me. It and the eyelids would be off the day I got it without any trace.

I think if you're seeing AP1s with 100k+ miles for 16,500 then you should keep searching as no market in the US will command those prices. That's simply overpriced. You're either looking at dealerships who just got the S2k on the lot, or people who don't really feel motivated to sell their car and are just throwing out feelers.

I totally agree that it's not a reasonable price, but you misunderstood. I said that in the market I'm in, most AP1s with sub 100k miles have that asking price. But I think most of the sellers are basing pricing off kbb and are unaware of how skewed that site is for these particular cars.

I appreciate your help regardless! Just another example why this community is so awesome.

For me, I'd go with the AP1 for sure. I'd love to have a really low mileage car. I don't want to rekindle the Ap1 vs Ap2 debate but I really like the AP1's even with the improvements that the Ap2's have.

I'd go with the lower mileage AP1 as that sounds like collectors quality and that is a large difference in mileage.

I don't care much about ap1 or ap2 engine, I think both are really good, what I'm interested about is the price, which one has and will have a better
price in the future !

Thanks
