Wow... that's very near to CR territory. For an '04 with super low miles, I personally wouldn't pay more than maybe 25 (US)?

I talked to the owner of this one...has been in accident and the bumper was replaced. is this something to walk away from or should i just have a leak down test done on it?
It's a 2001 with 125k, odds are that it will have been involved in some sort of accident at some point. I'd check out the repair work, have a leak down test done, maybe even have the repair checked out professionally. I wouldn't be scared off automatically just because it has been repaired in the past, as long as the price was right and the repairs were done properly.

Of course, the severity of the accident is another factor... that's why I'd want to have it checked out well.

Funny thing is there's an apex blue CR with 55k km's (34k miles) for sale locally for $30k Cdn ($27k US). I feel like I really want the soft top so I haven't gone to check out the CR yet.

Ask for pictures of the damage and have the car very thoroughly inspected by a shop that does body work and at least some mechanical work--preferably one that does lots of high end cars (as this may be an indication they are a reputable shop). Ask the shop what they think of the repair work, and ask how much it would likely cost to have all the major imperfections fixed. This could very well turn out to be a car that you want to walk away from, even at $8,000 if there is underlying/hidden damage that cannot be easily fixed. Definitely get the leakdown test/ compression test if it "passes" the visual inspection and you still think you want to purchase it.

And before having it inspected, look it over very thoroughly yourself and note any abnormal gaps, cracks whether in the paint or the metal, or any mismatching in the paint. I believe you can check to see where the bondo was applied by using a magnet, but I have never done this test myself, just something I've been told.

There is also a bunch of stuff I'm probably missing with a car like this, but the main thing is to get it thoroughly inspected by a *reputable* shop.

One last comment, if the car has been properly repaired by a *good* shop, you should not even be able to tell there was work done to it by simply glancing at it. I nearly totaled my car when I hit an elk on the freeway, and after $11,300 in repair work most people would not be able to tell that any work has been done to it--myself included.

With all that said, if it looks as good or better in person as it does in the pictures and checks out, as in it doesn't need more work done to it, then it may very well be a good purchase.

2001 AP1 101k miles $10.5 silver/red

I spoke to owner...he's service mgr at that dealer. His father bought new in TX, injured his knee and gave/sold to him. He has maintenance records. Drivers seat bolster is roached but he had a custom leather center tunnel made and got a swatch of leather for the repair.

Car is at dealer on consignment...not sure what that means as far as negotiability.

I am preapproved from my bank for the asking amount. Thoughts?

I go look at the car tomorrow.

Iradier, check the s2ki for sale listings, you've missed one for sale that is nicer than anything in your area--well at least state-- on craigslist.

Hint, it's an 06 in silverstone, and I sent you a pm.

So I recently came across a White Honda S2000 with an asking price of $12,500. It's a 2001 with 73,000 miles on it. The car itself is very clean with no damage and was taken Care of. However I was told it needs new bearings witch the owner will be taking care of. What are some things I should look for when buying one, such as problems that occur with them if any? Thank you!
