-Official- Is this car worth it thread - vol. 2
I think that's a terrible deal, personally. Being white doesn't make that car worth thousands more than other colors like the guy above me said IMO. I've seen a few GPW for sale around me and none of them were exceptionally high priced because of it. I wouldn't pay more than ~$14/15,000 for that myself.
Sent you the history. Not sure where you got a single minor accident but it shows 3 major disabling ones. If it's a very good deal, it's such for a reason.
It's a silver gts from 2000 but you won't like it because of a four letter word: AUTO. But it does handle quite well, even compared to the s2k, since i replaced the springs, shocks and sway bars.

Nice... I am a big fan of the Celica badge...
I remember lusting after the 1988 Toyota Celica GT-S, but ended up getting a 1988 Acura Integra LS instead (brand new)...
It's funny how the demographics on this forum (and other car enthusiast sites) prefer manual transmission... If you lived in the forum "bubble", you'd think that we were "in the bell curve" of buyers, and that manuals would be out-selling automatics... But we are clearly "in the tail" of the bell curve, since most manufacturers are citing low sales as to why they discontinue offering manual transmission options... <sigh>
Enjoy the Celica!!!

Seems like a solid deal. A very good deal, actually. Should I jump on it?

Not necessarily. I've been following s2000 prices for years now and not only on s2ki but also on manheim/adesa auctions, cars.com/autotrader and even ebay/craigslist GPW s2000's have always had a higher price/demand then other colors. Obviously there are exceptions once in a while. Same goes for NSX's as well. That's how it is whether you like it or not.

I've been following them for years as well and GPW is really only put on a pedestal on s2ki. It's just like any other rumor and you can probably trace it back to some time around 04-05 when GPW started magically being worth more than the other colors here on s2ki. I vaguely remember when it started and then it just spread like wildfire and everyone and their mother started regurgitating it as fact.
A low mileage well kept stock S2000 will always have a high value regardless of color. Show me a dealer that happens to have a GPW on their lot alongside any other color. Same year and nearly the same mileage. They won't be asking another $1500-2000 for the GPW just because it's white. And I'm not sure how you can make the statement that there is a higher demand for them on ebay, at auction, etc. when you have no statistical data supporting that. How do you know how many calls a dealer is getting on their GPW they have on their lot as opposed to their Silverstone? You don't.
Back in the golden days of s2ki no one ever talked about GPW having a higher value. This disease only started in the past ten years or so. Honestly, after buying a 2003 GPW model new and owning it for nearly four years I would never again consider an 03-05 GPW. Personally I find the tan hideous and had to cover it up with black Wet Okole seat covers. To me the 03-05 GPW is the least desirable color combination and worth the least overall on the used market.
