Ok, I think this might be the last time I bug you guys.
01 S2000
51k miles
1 owner
No accidents, matching VINs
Immaculate condition - everything on the car looks new except one dent on the hood - emailed a PDR guy near me and he told me it was an easy fix for ~$75-100
Color combination I want - finally no more yellow or bright red cars
100% stock
$12,000
Guy is willing to let me take it to a shop and have it checked over. Pending a clean autocheck and good compression numbers/everything looks good to the shop, I think this is a done deal. The car looks immaculate, it's completely stock, fairly low-mileage, and the seller writes intelligently, so I know he's not an immature kid like 99% of the S2k sellers I talk to on CL. Fair deal, yeah?

Can't wait to pick this up, it has been a struggle finding an honest seller with an unmolested S and no hidden accidents. Well, perhaps I shouldn't get ahead of my carfax...

Sounds like a solid deal. If everything checks out, I think you're golden!

all stock
Strong consistent compression numbers
Clean title
Match VINs all around
Front bumper needs a respray
Two small tears in the top in the usual spots

I will personally suck your dick if you can get that car for 12 grand.
Well, not really, but still. 06+ S2k's still command a good value, even if they have 120k+ miles. You said it yourself, it has no accidents, the motor is good, and it needs some light restoration.. I would say ~17k is about right for a good condition 07 S2k at those miles, deduct a grand for the roof and rock chips. No one is going to go much below that unless they're eager to sell.

12k is about right. It will worth slightly more in spring/summer.

I think everyone knows that responses in this thread are all just opinions and people's best guesses. Being such, no one's answer is right or wrong. They are ALL just guesses based on whatever the person guessing is basing it on. Geographic location, experience, time of year, and a few dozen other factors all contribute to any guess. Some guesses might get closer to what ends up being the sale price, but they are all just guesses.

To a degree. There is a certain amount of verifiable data that goes into it, and that's mostly in appraisals relative to what other cars sell at. In all of my months of searching for an S2000, I've never seen an 07 sell for 12k. That' just way off of the mark from what I actually see. I suspect these guys thinking it'll sell for 12 just looked at KBB, which is like throwing a dart at a billboard full of numbers and appraising your S2k that way.

I can agree with both posts, kinda.
I would agree with i-vtec that NORMALLY 06+ S2k still pull more of a premium compared to earlier models even 04-05. It took me several months before I found an 06+ listed for less than 15k that wasn't salvaged title.
BUT That being said I did eventually score my car, an 06, for 12,250... So while maybe difficult 12-13k for an 06+ car is possible.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's impossible. Anything is possible. A widow could throw up her late husband's 2008 CR with 5k miles on it for $50 if she wanted to get rid of it. Still doesn't make that a valid value IMO, though
