Hello S2ki! I'm looking to get into an S and have been doing research on and off for years. I think I'm finally ready to upgrade from my NA Miata.

Wanted to get some opinions on this car. I've already spoken to the seller and said the max I would pay for the car is $10,000 (he didn't seem put off). But, I would imagine $8,000 - $9,500 is where I'll fall when I actually go to look at it.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't pay 8k for a 104k salvaged s2k. Maybe 6-7. 12k is an insane asking price for that, that's what a clean-titled S2k of that condition would hope to get.
Yea, 6-7k definitely seems more reasonable.

So I have been a lurker here for years, but trying to get down to pulling the trigger and getting an S2. There is an '06 Suzuka Blue with 51,000 miles. Seller wants $18,900. Car has had two owners, first was a lease for five years, then car sold at auction and resold three years ago. Second owner only averaged less than 1,500 miles a year, so bulk of miles came from owner #1. Seems prices for similar year / mileage is about the same here in Indiana area. Haven't actually seen the car in person yet, so much more research needed but wanted to toss this out there to get opinions. Any opinions welcome. Would like to soon become more than a lurker.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I've been trying to read a lot of threads on this matter, but I sold my 07 Nissan 350z in September and I'm looking to get s2000. I think I've found one and it seems like everything is checking out but I'd like your guys opinion since this is all new to me. This is the one I'm looking at 2005 S2000 The carfax looks good and they also did a prepurchase inspection on the car and everything has checked out, I can send it to you if you would like to double check it for me. I'd really appreciate the input and look forward to joining the s2000 club! Thanks

Matching VINs on each body panel? That front bumper looks like it's been painted, also the fitment seems a little off. And the trunk has no Honda emblem, looks clean without it though.

Front bumper has issues in multiple locations -- alignment seems off, color a little off (but that might be lighting), there are warpage issues at both front sides; it has seen some kind of altercation or tampering.

Passenger side has either been high-centered on a curb or someone tried to jack it up from the wrong spot (rocker panel is screwed up).

Convertible top appears damaged on rear passenger side (just behind door) and is poorly installed (see wrinkly bit drivers side at rear window). The top may have lifetime warranty but that won't apply if it was improperly installed (which it looks to have been).

Maybe it's just dirt, but the passenger side wheels appear to have some serious curbing.

Driver's side door interior panel has some strange damage to the upholstery at the corner of the plastic part where the mirror and window control buttons are located (just below the pull handle).

Otherwise seems clean for its amount of miles.

Definitely get your own PPI done by someone *you* know. Don't rely on one that someone else has ordered or paid for.

Thanks for the response! Only bad part is I'm in Cincinnati and that's in Washington D.C.area. Do you think I should pass on this one?

It's odd they included no pics of the engine bay. I would want to see that as well as pics from it on a rack/lift, if possible. I mean, what's the deal on the rocker panel, right? Or the front bumper (def something going on there, just a question of what; maybe it had a lip on it that someone removed and it did some damage?). No way to know if you can't get a good look at it.

If you are still seriously interested in it, see if you can have a local S2ki member check it out for your first. Someone who has one of these cars will generally know what to look for enough to tell you if it's worth pursuing having a PPI scheduled and for you to make the trip yourself.

I personally wouldn't pursue this particular car, BUT I'm way picky and I'm not the one buying it.

The mobile link sucks on a desktop computer. http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...3258/overview/

*Definitely* worth asking someone in the GA forums to go check out. Whoever had this one did all the right upgrades/mods from an aesthetic point of view. The roll hoop speakers are sweet. Sub in the trunk, nicely done (but I would want a grill over it to protect the cone from luggage). iPod adapter in the glove box. Clear side marker lights. And it looks like they did something with the headlights too. Very clean looking. That is has the owner's manual and all the other original booklets that came with the car is always a good sign. Run an autocheck and/or carfax on it. Has all the hallmarks of a one-owner vehicle and probably someone who gave a damn.

Ask around on here or the "other" s2k site (one that goes ***ca.com) and see if the owner is known to anyone.

Only things that may need closer look of course is engine bay (no pics... why no pics?) and possibly the driver's side plastic aero bit that is normally in front of the front wheel looks to be missing. You clearly see it on the passenger side in one of the 3/4 shots but it's not there on the driver's side. Or maybe it's bad lighting. It's not unusual for them to go missing, but it's a flag to look closer for clues why.
