Hey guys,

What do you think of the price of the deal I am working on:

2008 LBP with 55k miles. The car has light mods (exhaust). The price is $17,900 however the top is slashed so that would need to be replaced.

Let me know if this is a good price or I should try to get the dealer lower?

Always try and get the dealer lower! That price sounds pretty good to me. Does it have any defects? Does it have a service history? You can rack up alot of bills "restoring" these cars.

They have it listed for $18,998 and I was able to get them to $17,900 given the need for a new top.

What else can I throw in as "restoring"?

Service fees, if they don't have records of them. Things such as torquing rear axles, adjusting valves, fluid changes, brake service, timing chain tensioner, battery. If they don't have records of any of this stuff (it all needs to be done) let them know how much it is going to cost you to bring it to service standards.

Thanks! I might have just got them down another $500. We shall see what they say...

Hey Everyone! First post because I'm looking to buy my first S2000 in a week or two. I've got a lead on one S2000 in phoenix. Its a 2001 AP1 with 44k on it. Completely stock, single owner, garaged and covered it's entire life. Full service records are available. Soft top is in good condition. No visible dings or scratches from the pics, but I'm planning on seeing the car in person this weekend. The asking price is $16,500 which I feel is a slight over evaluation. However looking around it's hard for me to find anything better in the Phoenix area. Is this a decent price for the region? Anything in particular I should look for when I see it in person? Thanks for your help!

My previous deal fell through.

However I found another reasonable car. Its $19k for a 2006 light blue with 51k miles. Car looks to be in very good shape. Is this a decent price?

Bought my third Ap1 in May, MY02...bone stock ,55k paid more for it than I paid for the one before it ,that had 27k . The one with 27k I paid 14,000 in 2009 .The last one I paid 16,000 and it has 55k .The prices will cont to rise for some time imo.

zman025, Where are you located? I can tell you the car you are looking at also has a cut to the top. Dealer said they are going to patch it, but didn't seem interested at all in budging on what they say is their "cash" price.
