Hey guys,

I've been wanting an S2000 for a while now and I have finally decided to pull the trigger. I found one on a local craigslist, 2005 Berlina Black 117k miles with a "clean title" for 13,5.

Hi Trinhsetta,

Welcome to S2ki! You might want to consider getting a PrePurchase Inspection by a shop knowledgeable in S2000s. You can post in your regional forum to get recommendations.

That it was listed as a "clean title" frequently just means the car does not have a rebuilt or salvage title. Sometimes sellers confusingly post "clean" title when they mean "clear" title which is that the car has no liens on it (loans) and is owned outright by the seller. Anyway, autocheck and carfax are helpful, but not the end-all be-all for vehicle history (this I know from cars I've owned which I *knew* had body work done that was covered by insurance, but which didn't show up on the CarFax report). I personally feel that a good inspection is important, particularly if the history gives an indication of the possibility of significant damage. Let the shop know what the reports say so they can pay extra attention to any clues to body/frame damage. The current owner may honestly have NO idea anything negative ever happened to the car prior to his ownership of it.

Washing *and* waxing every two weeks almost sounds a bit anal, but some owners are more meticulous than others. Maybe that's a good sign. Changing full synthetic oil every 3500 miles also sounds a bit excessive, but wouldn't be bad for the car (just the environment and one's wallet).

Hope this helps a little.
Hi, thanks for your reply and welcoming! I was wondering if you could put a price on the car based off the ad and autocheck/carfax report, what would you price that car as or what would you pay for it??

I'm in the market for an Ap1 (it's going to be my very 1st S2000)

What do you think these are worth and a fair price for them?

MY02, 95k miles, needs new wheel bearing and soft top.
Opinion on price for:
Car without rpf1?
Car without kw3?
Car without both kw3 and without rpf1? (note: stock wheels have bald tires)
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/4984319509.html

MY05, 132k miles, oem hard top, needs new struts and small damage on front bumper:

MY03, 60k miles, looks mint:
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac...980784499.html

My first choice would obviously be the MY03 with 60k miles, but it's out of my budget. 2nd choice is the MY02 95k miles with the COs removed (and maybe the wheels removed too..but I really like the rpf1's). 3rd choice is the MY05 and I would probably never go through with buying it because it has so many miles for so much money.

Hello all this is my first post and i need your opinion on buying this s2000
Here are the details
Miles: 102k
Price :$13.5k
Year : 2005
Color: Rio yellow
Title:clean

ATTACHMENTS FOR PICS AND CARFAX REPORT : https://drive.google.com/folderview?...jA&usp=sharing
Now here is why i am very impressed with this car : i looked at the carfax and it looks pretty clean other than a minor bump with a tree , he explained that the rear bumper had a tiny dent and he fixed it .. i also love this car because of the seats !!!! They are in pristine condition ! like brand new . He also replaced the softop a year ago and its soo clean with no rips or holes. Here are the mods : Mugen front lip, HKS hi power dual exhaust , invidia test pipe, cr turn signals, neochrome shift knob, jvc stereo, led conversion (what does that mean?)
So you tell me should i buy this car for 13,500 dollars or not ?
See attached pics for carfax report and pics of the seat!
Any other advise before buying it ? like where should i take it to have it inspected ?

I would pass the 02/05 and go for the 03. It may be out of your budget at first but would you rather buy a cheaper one then spend more on fixing it up or pay more for a nicer one up front and start enjoying it right away? If it has matching VIN tags, fenders are not rolled and is in good mechanical condition I would try to talk him down to 14k.

I can only offer you an opinion... If you are okay with purchasing a car with over 100K, then I do think this price seems fair...

Based on what I paid for my car, and using the +/- $1,000 for favorable year and mileage that a lot of people use here on the forum, I'd say that the car could justify a $1,000 over what he's asking...

But again...that's only an opinion based on the deal (or lack of a deal) that I got on my car...

In any case, it doesn't seem like a price that is out of whack...

I know that it's frustrating to ask a question and get radio silence... I hope my response is somewhat helpful for you...

Bump.. on price opinions on this MY02. He told me he might be willing to take off the wheels and/or COs to get it down to my budget. Just wanted to know what a fair price for those options I listed should go for though.

Basically subtract 2k for the coilovers and 1k for the wheels. His price is high to be honest.

I'd say 13k with everything.
12k no rpf1
11k no coilovers
10k stock wheels stock suspension.

And maybe even a tad less because it needs that wheel bearing done, new tires and it has some cosmetic issues. But it's not far off.
