-Official- Is this car worth it thread - vol. 2
How is it a clean title if it was in a wreck? That makes no sense. The dash flickering is troubling as well. I wouldn't want to play find the electrical issue on one of these. Also I am willing to bet you can find the same thing locally. I don't think it is worth it. If they would drop it to maybe 9k then maybe.
Hey guys I just checked out this 2004 Silver Stone S2000 and wanted to get your input if it's worth buying.
Here's the info:
2004 Honda SilverStone S2000
Clean title
106,000 miles
Red/Black interior with no tears
A couple of control buttons scratched
Front bumper scraped on bottom and bubble/spider web
Rock chips on bumper and fenders
Rear driver tail light moisture
All tires need to be replaced
17" aftermarket wheels
Original radio and speakers but CD doesn't eject
Missing antenna
Gauge cluster flickering
Top has typical tears on driver/passenger side and covered with tape
Cigarette lighter is missing the housing
Ding on passenger door
original timing belt tensioner, water pump, and clutch
Skunk2 dual exhaust w/ no silencers
K&N air filter with no carb sticker
The car was rear ended so the trunk was fixed and the bumper and passenger tailight were replaced with oem parts.
All for $11k
Should I jump on this? I'll be bringing this back home to CA so I will have to pay tags, registration, and smog.

First and for most 11k isnt a bad price its fair. the flickering dash is most likely a bad rectifier or the battery no electrical hunt is needed to solve that problem since its so common in these cars. if you post pics it would help a lot but it doesnt sound outrageous. if he has maintenance records and the car runs and drives well then why not? as far as the clean title goes it could have been a fender bender that doesnt mean you get a rebuilt title.
Ok but he still has to fly to go get it so cost of the flight plus gas and hotels depending how far it is. It needs new tires so that's at least $600. It will need a different intake and exhaust because he is in cali. I mean before you even get it home to swap out parts you spending another $1-2k. Being in cali I would think he could find something similar local. It just doesn't seem like its worth the hassle.
definetely have dif trans fluids changed and atleast valve lash checked. i just bought my s2000 with 116k miles, and tbh i dont feel like i made a mistake. ive been a honda guy for 5years drove a teg till 150k miles and trust these motors hands down. listen for the tct rattle something i missed and is now costing me 250ish to do.
