-Official- Is this car worth it thread - vol. 2
Bought mine with 97K on it
Regardless of paperwork done, I would change the diff fluid, tranny fluid and Oil yourself after purchasing.
Few things that went wrong on my car since I have bought it. Put about 8k or so on it since buying in march
Door lock actuator - 30$ fix
Turning signal bulb - woopty do
Motor mounts have turned shitty. Just bought some Innovative 75a Mounts for 300$ shipped (OEM are cheap though if you replace individually)
I bought mine for 9k so i expected a few things to go wrong eventually but for the price I cannot complain.
If you have not owned one before you will soon wonder how you didn't decide to buy one sooner
Love mine.

I might pull the trigger on a S2000 I've seen but had a few questions/concerns. Appreciate any input, thanks!
1. How much would you pay for a Stock AP2 2004 S2000 with 71,000 miles from a private party *?
* Assuming there is nothing major wrong with the car. I intend to get a Pre-purchase inspection done before purchase. The reason I'm asking this question is that I see a lot of variability between prices.
It has 3 owners (I'd be the 4th) and no accidents. Silver exterior and black interior. It's got some minor scratches on exterior. I'd rate it 8/10. Interior is well kept - 9/10.
Here's the KBB private party for this: http://www.kbb.com/honda/s2000/2004-...ue&anchor=true
2. 16/24. The EPA rated fuel efficiency seems real low for a 2.2L 4 cyl car? Is this what I can expect?

71k is kinda high, in no time youll be at 100k which is where u can lose the last bit of value. as far as reliability and if your gonna keep it till the wheels fall off, just make sure its been well maintained and it should run for longer than you live.
At 105K you do the valve adjustment. Personally I'm at 107K runs as strong as new and has no problems with the thrills of a full on track day.
In 09 we bought an 04 with 59K on it for $15.7K.

The car you're looking at appears to be very similar, so I would guess a similar price is possible. However, based on about 2 months of searching, the deal I worked with the previous owner of my car seemed to be the exception, not the rule. Most similar cars were going for closer to $16k, some even higher, so while I don't think the couple people that responded to the poll saying they expect you to be able to get #13-13.5k are flat out lying, I wouldn't bet on it.
Personally, I would say its worth it at $14.5-15k, and feel like you got an excellent deal if you're able to manage $14k or less.
