$13k is a good price if it's as clean as you describe.

He just wants to close the deal today. Don't let him take control of the situation. Tell him you want the day to think about it and will call when you've come to a decision.

If the car is in the condition you describe, schedule an inspection, and scoop it for $13k OTD. Watch out for stupid fees that jack up the price. Good luck, report back with what you decide!

You can find some 05 with half those miles for maybe a few thousand more if you look around private party.

Yes, it's a good deal. And the salesman is only pressuring you because they're probably getting 20 calls a day about the car. It's not so much the price he's worried about, he just wants to get the deal done before another salesperson does.

'05 with 60k for 15 is a Needle in a haystack. Possible but unlikely. And would sell within hours. Next time that deal comes up, I'll take it. Cash ready.

After looking around a bit, I decided to wait. After dealer fees etc. the price was going over 14,000. Private party value on KBB is 12,100. There are better options out there. Like what was said above, I think it is worth it to spend an extra 2-3 thousand and look for one with lower miles.

Currently I am speaking with somebody about a Red 2005 with 60k miles in my price range. Its too far away for me to inspect, so I was going to hire Aim mobile inspections for peace of mind. Anybody used a mobile inspection service before?

Yes but private party values on KBB is always lower than a dealer price.

But I think you did the right thing if you don't feel it, It is a bit higher mileage for an AP2 IMO.

Good luck with the new lead

Thanks everyone for the fast and great feedback. The dealership was California Motors Direct. I guess I'll continue my search!

yeahhhhhhh, stay the _____ away from that dealership, they probably had 7 other s2k's there as well right? I checked out that dealership when I was looking for my s2k and was surprised at how many they had, but they all seemed pretty beat up (one was even being sold without a shift knob). Seems like they specialize in buying beat up cars and then turning around and selling them for way too much. They've even had to change their names a few times from getting sued so much.

If the seller is willing to take his car to a tuner shop in their area for an inspection I would do that. It shows they are confident in their car.
