Official Is This Car Worth It Thread vol 3
'02 Sebring Silver 136,000 miles, asking $9750
1 owner
1 accident as per AutoCheck: "LEFT REAR IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE";
When asked, the guy selling it says (over email): "Barely visible dent. My wife (who’s car it is) never got it fixed."
Rest of the listing is verbatim:
This car has been extremely well maintained (original owner), and is never driven in winter. It still performs like new--tight and speedy. The body has two small dings the lower part of front bumper has a few scrapes, and the bumper and hood have normal wear and tear with tiny stone chips in the paint. Leather driver's seat is showing wear, but no rips/tears. The soft top was replaced in 2012. Tires have more than 20k miles tread left. All mechanicals are in top working order. Contact me for copy of CarFax.

This guys claims they are selling because they have 3 cars and want to scale back.
He bought it at a local Honda dealership in '02 as per AutoCheck.
He does not know if the valve retainers/keepers have been checked or serviced (not even aware of it as an issue).
He has no idea about the oil banjo bolts.
He says he priced the car low b/c it will need new front tires in the next 10-20k.
He claims it never burns oil, never ran low, and was changed every 3k.
He claims it was never raced or used in autox or HPDE.
He claims the soft top was replaced in 2012 and has no rips, tears, or issues.
He has pictures of all 10 matching VIN Numbers.
I'm waiting for him to send me the CarFax to review. I've seen this car listed locally for a few months now, and it started at higher prices in the 11k range. I've seen him re-list and drop the price slowly but surely, and even found an old eBay auction he set up in which 6 bidders chased the price up to $8800, but they did not meet the reserve price aka minimum bid. I'm in the Northeast -- winter is coming and I think he's desperate to sell it soon. Pending an in-person review, I am thinking of offering $8500, hoping to settle on $9000. I think that $9750 is a fair price, but why not haggle?
Sorry for the long post. What do you guys think?

What is this car worth?
Price listed for $16,000.
2006 Berlina Black, 151k miles. New motor with new OEM short block, all OEM parts (with receipts, only 270 miles on new motor) Body is an 7/10, interior is a 7/10 (a small tear in both seats). New motor mounts, brakes, tires, new clutch. Basically all stock. Soft top is decent condition, no rips.
Ran a carfax, shows 2 previous owners who owned the car for 5 and 6 years respectively, 1 minor accident reported that required radiator to be replaced. CarFax value is right around $12,500 and KBB is $12,600.
I figure since it has a brand new motor it may be worth paying more for.

You better buy it before I do! I've talked to the seller, seems a straight shooter, I also have the carfax, leave your email or send me a pm and I'll get it to you. One thing, according to the carfax the mileage hasn't really budged in several years so it's been sitting. Tires are probably needed all around just based on the age, same with all fluids. If it passes a compression test, this is a good buy.
I think if you could pick it up for $9000-$9500 that is a great deal. Original owner, newer top, 10 VINs present. Even if there are things you have to address its still a good deal if all checks out. Winter coming probably has him motivated. That car here in the Northwest would go for $11-$12000.

Damn near $13,000, motor replaced, it's had a front end collision, and the paint and interior is only 7/10. Pass.
I know which car you are referring to. Owner is banking on the color combo (which is very desirable) for someone to pay the asking price, but rear bumper damage was not merely a small scuff. I'd pay that asking price if it was a 2008 or 2009 with 20k miles and clean body panels, but no way for that one.
@reversible That's definitely high. If all 10 VINs are in tact and there's no modifications, it could fetch as high as 25K, but 23-24K would be typical market. If they won't come down, there's others out there, you may just have to wait for the right one.
I went to see it for myself on Monday and verified that all 10 VINs are present, and the car itself looks pretty well kept for being a decade old. There are some minor scratches here and there but overall there's still a definite newness about it, almost like certified pre-owned that hasn't been detailed. Seller just came back with $25.5 firm; close enough to consider or let it sit/play hardball?
I'm used to waiting anyway. I've been looking for a GPW about 4 years now so passing another one by would be no sweat. (Of course, finally getting my butt in one would be nice too)

Found a S2000 I'm interested in around the SF bay area.
