- Just replaced all of the rusted parts (so the whole car basically?)
Well i am going to guess they either grind it down, apply bondo and paint, but maybe they will cut and weld in a piece of sheet medal, i dont know.
He just made a deal with the dealership because my ad says im a bodywork guy in search of one that needs work and he probably knew i would walk.
I was going to inspect the underside and probably offer him 10000CAD (7600USD) give or take if the underside had considerable amount of rust.

Part of me wants to save up more money and make a clean s2000 my garage queen for my summers
The other half wants a rust bucket so i can cut and repaint spots every 3 years and just drive the absolute **** out of it.
With a rust bucket i would drive it winter and everything even because i know rust has already begun and it doesnt need to be babied and to expect to have to fight rust.

I'd say be patient man. A clean S2000 is the way to go. Surely you will still have to do some maintenance work and replace wearable items.

But the idea of getting a rust bucket and tending to it when needed is almost always the worst idea ever. Let's not forget $10,000CAD ($7,600USD) is still a LOT of money for an used, old, highly impractical car that you won't be driving everyday.

If I were in your shoes, I'm walking.

Yeah i agree. I wouldnt spend more than maybe 2k for a rust bucket. But for 14k USD you better hope you arent getting any rust.

What do you guys think of this car?

https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/c...938678957.html

Seller told me in a text that there is mild paint bubbling on quarter panel, paint is fading on upper areas (assuming hood & trunk) and top will need to be replaced.

I can't spot the bubbling rust in any of the pics, maybe I'm blind.
Images are iPhone quality too, smh

I would request more detailed pictures of that one as they are blurry and he chose to take more photos of his accompanying accessories than the actual car itself. Cosmetically, it needs a lot of work - paint is either extremely dirty or in poor condition. Not sure what's up with that driver's seat either - strange wave in the seat bottom that might be tear, but hard to see in the picture. Not knowing much, it's probably not worth more than 10K.

Fair asking price, but obviously a thorough inspection is warranted. The seller is very specific about the history which is a good thing. Meticulous records. Daily drivers are ok. If it is in good shape, you get the benefit of allowing moderate mileage (it's a bulletproof honda) put the vehicle in easy reach, price wise.

I would have paid 14500CAD for that one if it passed an inspectionse and walk with rusted brake lines or subframe. Break lines that look real bad often an early indicator of salt exposure if you will.
