Official Is This Car Worth It Thread vol 3

Looking at a couple AP2s and both have this odd "overspray" on them, for lack of a better term. I've been trying to poke around online for pictures and it seems like it's perhaps not uncommon? Both claim no resprays and have clean carfax's/one owner, is this just from the factory, or is something else going on here? This is below the door/sides of the car.

@Zogster, are you looking that the paint on the pinch welds? That's totally normal. Usually the pinch welds get filthy from road grime, etc. but that area is painted from the factory on all cars.

Need some advice whether if this is a fair price. Carfax came back clean, but the car was painted by the owner two months ago in Florida when I asked the manager at the dealer. Trying to confirm with the shop that did it but not having much luck with them providing that information. Will prob get a PPI done but should I get it done at a different dealer?

Guy wants 10700 usd, 85000 miles, 2002 ap1. It's its Canadian, been winter driven and has rust. At this point there's not much else I know about it but I'm going to look at it tomorrow. Ill pay for an inspection but I'm worried about fighting rust as I've repainted my del sol personally three times in 10 years as my winter daily. Soft top appears to be in decent shape, a bit old but no tears. I'll post more about the car after I take a look and get inspection. Guy lives pretty close to me actually, taken in the same lot I buy liquor on Fridays few blocks from my house lol

Oh man... if there's rust, I would stay away. Plus, it's been modded.

Skip looking at the car and just head straight for the liquor store. I can only imagine what the underside of that car looks like. You would be better off finding a S2000 with twice the mileage and no rust. If you are going to be driving the car year-round in that environment some rust and corrosion are inevitable but there has to be better options out there.

Yeah maybe I'm just getting desperate but I need to test drive as many as I can rn so I can get a feel for how the s2000 feels in comparison. I've been looking for over a year and only had three pop up in the same province of Saskatchewan. The other one has no rust, is yellow, but has pressure cracks from being pumped into at a parking lot, and threw an engine light for a throttle position sensor. Has 165000km instead of 130000. Two inch tear on passenger rear by bar as well. And a hell of alot of scuff marks from being brushed up against and such, original paint. All stone chips are covered with a white touch up paint lol. Same price.

@Bradyn, I concur with the others - that level of rust is unfortunately only the beginning of a constant battle to keep from eating the car alive. As others have said, if that's what's visible, the underside is likely in terrible shape. My father has a 1994 Acura Legend (in immaculate shape, I might add), that's had the typical rear wheel well rust - it's been fixed five times over the life of the car and it keeps coming back. The car has never been in an accident - it was just a known problem with the drains, and that's a constant battle. The rust on this one is far worse, and will keep eating the car - it's impossible to entirely remove the corrosion at this point.
Hard pass. Keep looking.
