Default Painted Windshield edge

Sorry to be such a newb but i cannot get the search working like it used too. I seen a few S2K's with the outer edge of their windows painted to match their cars. Does this come factory or is it painted?

The black around the windshield is tape. Just peal it off.
Search for windshield tape there is a quick write up floating around somewhere

There's no need to paint it when you can peel it off for free. Just peel it off and get some bug and tar remover to take off the leftover glue residue. Make sure to get some 3M swirl remover or Meguiars Scratch X to remove any sanding down of the paint that you'll find under the tape and you're good to go. It'll take you around 2 hours.

I heard heating with a hair dryer helps the process, but haven't experienced it myself.

Be careful using a hair dryer, i used one and while it did make the removal of the tape go a little quicker it softened the black rubber moulding around the window. Best bet is to leave it in the sun all day before you start taking the tape off.

Be careful though as that residue is hard as hell to take off and it took me 1 and half hour to scrape off one side with a credit card as no cleaner worked......

No sh*t, It took me about the same for one side as well. I used all sorts of things. Including a $14 can of adhesive/bug/tar remover that worked as well as my thumb nail.

It wasn't EASY to get off the residue, but it wasn't hard either. I used the turtle wax bug&tar remover and terry cloth towels. Just rub back and forth quickly and hard. It'll start to catch on itself and stick to the towel and the other pieces and just end up rolling up. Essentially you want to be "rolling up" the residue, and you want it to be dry. Use the bug/tar remover to soften it up some, then wipe it, and use a dry part of the towel to scrape up the glue afterwards. Try that method. It was almost scratchless for me too, doing the hard towel rubbing. The few (2 or 3 light scratches) came out instantly with Meguiar's Scratch-X.
