So whats the consensus? Blue tape will or will not leave residue due to heat? Should I Just lay paper on the car and tape over the paper, making in a sense a blanket, taping the ends to the car underneath and in the wheel weels?

Got a little over a week and starting to get ready... any ideas welcome. Maybe Im being too anal and stupid?

The nose section is the most vulnerable. I taped the bottom and leading ledge of the lip before taking a 5K trip and returned with one chip just to the lower left of the Honda emblem.
My guess is that this part of the car will take the full impact of any debris that happens to hit . The rest of the front end is sloped back and will only get glancing blows.
Pay perticular attention to the nose on the S when taping.

So on this trip you just used the tape straight up on the paint? Was there residue? Was it the blue painters tape? Did you keep it on all 5K miles?

The only problem with the spray-on stuff is that it will come off at highway speeds in the rain.

If a few hundred of those 1200miles end up being through rainy weather you might end up with a naked front end part way through the trip and resort to the tape anyway.

Why don't you just get a clear bra installed?!

It's quite expensive and I've heard lots of horror stories about it. Sure some end up great, but many discolor, peel up on the ends, etc.
