This may sound like I am a tard but I tried to get the cover off last night to make sure it wasn't the spare and I couldn't get the thing off. How do I remove the carpeting covering the spare without destroying those little plastic fasteners?
I wonder how he "shook the spare" without getting the cover off. Back to reading class.

Sounds like an annoying buzz I had coming from the same area. I wasn't able to find the cause of the noise until I was installing my new soft top and had removed the plastic tray pieces where the top folds. I found that if I reached up under the back of the passenger roll hoop and tapped the top motor, it made the noise that had annoyed me for so long. I made a wedge out of electrical tape and stuck it between the motor and the body of the car. I then put 3M automotive tape across the bottom of the wedge to hold it in place. The pressure of the wedge on the motor has stopped the buzz completely.

Hope this helps.
What would be the easiest way to check this? It sounds like a pinball machine . It was worse today than I have ever heard it. I believe it is due to the change in temp around here.

Why are you having trouble getting to your spare? There should be 3 clip things on the top of the carpet piece that covers yuor spare. They have little handles on them so you can grab and pull. Once the 3 clips are removed the carpet piece should come right off. No need to bend anything.

To see if what you are hearing is what we are talking about, try this experiment:

Go to your car, and loosen the nut that holds the spare tire down (the instructions on how to get to the spare tire are above), then drive around some bumpy roads. You'd hear the sound we were talking about. If that is the same sound you heard, then it is the same thing. If the sound is different, then you have a different problem. Good luck.
