The worst trick a cop has attempted to pull on me was the following: I was driving about 55 in a 40, when my Passport made a little chirp, so I cut throttle and slowed to about 40-45 range. It was pitch black out and I had the top on the car, through the back window I see head lights flying up behind me, then they come right up and tailgate me... but as this car got closer and closer, the passport chirped more and more... at the next intersection I got to confirm that it was indeed a cop attempting to bait me. Rather annoying.
Anyway, I would recommend the Passport... mine is rather outdated but still has saved me many times. I'm considering upgrading soon.

I endorse the V1.

Just remember whatever detector you buy (might i suggest a V1?), it is a tool to prevent unscheduled meetings with the fuzz, but its not a complete solution to the "problem"

I would love to have you as a friend. I can tell already I would be winning a lot of bets. Please read the article fully, careful of your words in the future. Always, Never, Positive are powerful words that shouldn't be used often.

I also thought that it is unlawful for cops to break the law without the use of lights. Ie. Speeding, weaving, running reds, ect...

Is it true that police officers are required to show you the radar reading they got on their gun if you ask them to (not counting if they are pacing you on the freeway)? If they don't have the reading, would it be really easy to defeat the ticket in court?

I would think so, too. I was very suprised and angry that the cop tried that. But i was thankful the Passport was on.

With regard to this entrapment, they would have to prove that you were out there looking for a race. I believe ultimately they could do PROVE that you were, which would be their burden if it came down to it.

If you were out for a drive, not otherwise intending to break the law and they effectively "talked" you into a race then that IS entrapment. Just the same as you walking down the street with no intention to do anything, and have a cop say "hey, get over here. I have drugs I am going to sell you now. Come here." That is entrapment unless you approach seeking drugs.

Entrapment will only be a viable defense if you can prove you were not predisposed to racing.

If you could show you've never been ticketed before for racing, and weren't already racing around and a cop comes up to you in an unmarked car, revs his engine and is looking over at you trying to entice you into a race then yes it can be entrapment because unlike "to catch a predator where all the cops do is present you with an opportunity with no instigation here they are taking an active role in trying to get you do commit a crime which is entrapment

i have heard of cops here being in a fully built b18 Civic hatch, trying to race people happened to several of my friends, all in the same civic. none of them fell for it tho because they had heard about it and i think they said they saw lights in the civics grill

i use the passport 8500 and it works great
