The less time you spend on the road the more gas you save.
so the faster you go the faster you get their the less gas is consume compare to stopping at a stop light.

What's wrong with that? The site says you should hit 36.9mph in 1st, 56.5mph in 2nd, and 78mph in 3rd. Sounds pretty close to me
MY01 is at about 91 mph at the end of 3rd..

I got 89 on the speedo in 3rd. I have AP2 wheels though. Also, those calling the gear calculator a little off, don't forget about speedo lag. If it's small amounts off, this could be a big variable.

As far as the accuracy of the gear calculator goes... I first learned about it when I saw XViper reference it in one of his posts. So I figure, if it's good enough for X, it's good enough for me

The best gas mileage is achieve between 35-55mph. Basically cruising at the lowest RPM in the highest gear without lugging the engine. Air resistance increases with the square of the velocity, so if you double your speed you have ~4 times the air resistance fighting you...

Basically picturing the right side of a parabola with the x axis being time, the air resistance increases very quickly...

His statement applies only to low speeds (<~30mph) Some cars cannot cruise at this speed without lugging the engine, therefore having to be in let's say 4th instead of top gear (5th) You get worse MPG in 4th at 30mph than in 5th at 35mph, see what I am getting at?
You're not taking into account the tuning of the engine...between 80 and 85 the fuel map is leaner in the 85-100% engine load vs rpm cells, so the car gets better gas mileage irregardless of air resistance.

Dyno a bone stock AP1 and do a wideband check on it...you'll see the AFR's lean out to almost 14:1 (in some cases slightly higher) in the 1000 rpm range just before VTEC.

The person he was replying to had an AP2, so the gear ratios are not the same as your AP1. The speeds he quoted (from the tool) were correct.

Yep, early Ap1s are very rich and become leaner as they approach vtec... Not denying that.

so the car gets better gas mileage irregardless of air resistance.

No. I think you are confusing engine efficiency and car efficiency (which takes into account air resistance)

The ENGINE is more efficient, NOT the car.
