Steve C, you don't take your S through the automatic wash do you? Water will seep all in the car if you go through one of those.... don't ask me how I know.

Yep, been doing it for years.

Actually thinking through it my first 01 was not washed for nearly two years while it was in Seattle -- and the water still beaded from the few coats of Zaino I put on in the first week.

I still don't see the big deal about auto car washses; sure I prefer to wash the car by hand when I have the time, but I have taken every car I own through an auto wash at the gas station (touchless of course) -- even the 996 Twin Turbo.
