[QUOTE=tenblade2001,Nov 29 2004, 07:38 PM] Like I said in my edited post....no flame intended.
How about some pics and specs?
Also, are you changing your oil more frequently? Usually, free flowing= more dirt particles (depending on the filter type...isn't the HKS a Foam filter?)

ahh yes, i think i saw a test with those filters. the k&n filtered the best, and the hk$ metal was the worst filter in the test. it flows a lot, but it also lets a lot of dirt past too.

is this the hks you are talking about?

this looks like the k&n one which is made of cotton gauge.
i doubt this would have the dirt problems of the hks foam one..

From that test it looks as if the Apexi filter is the best (at least on that Supra). Too bad they don't make a drop-in for the S2k. Anyone know if the universal 80mm can fit the stock box w/minor mods? It would also have been interesting if they would have tested the car with no filter just to see how much they were (if at all) holding the power back. If the filter is application-designed it really shouldn't hold the power back at all since all the total filtering area just needs to flow the same amount of air as an open 3" pipe (assuming of course the intake pipe is 3"). Also, does anyone know what they were comparing the gains against? Was it an OEM paper-style filter?

The hks metal flow filter is not included in that test.
