S2ks are in trouble
If 1/4 mile times are the only thing you are looking at, the s2000 really isn't that impressive. But i guarantee you driving one is much more exhilarating than a cobalt, lancer, etc. especially when considering cornering, braking and rwd goodness.
Also the s2000 may be only slightly faster, but look at it and then look at the ugly cars u mentioned (wrx is ok). Thats a big reason you bought the car wasn't it?

How many models of the Cobalt are there? I have seen a GL, GT, and SS. I would assume those are all model upgrades with different options based on the model. The S has two models, 'base' and CR. So really we are comparing base S2000 and base Cobalt. Now what do the numbers say?
Now does what I just typed make sense, that is another question...,

What kills me is that people seem to think that Honda is in competition with someone with the S2K! The S2K is a gift to the auto enthusiast. They don't lose money on it but they certainly don't make any either. Look at the volume manufactured. How can you make any money at it?
It's a halo car. It's a statement car. It's a "roadster heritage" kind of statement. Honda does not and never did intend to sell many of them.
IMO, the CR is built for S2K enthusiasts who want something like that. Nothing more, nothing less.

I agree with the OP. when I purchased my car back in 2004, I knew I wanted to add FI. one year later after purchasing my car, I bought a Vortech SC. it was just the thing the car was missing, power.....
when the s2000 first came about in 2000, it was an all around performer, BUT today, it isn't so....

See my previous post. FI is all the CR is lacking to put it back in the front of the pack.
edit: beat me to it.

Oh no! The TRD Tundra goes 0-60 in 4.4 seconds! Porsche better step it up with their base Boxster and Cayman. I mean, what will they think when they line up outside Home Depot and a truck with lumber in the back can leave their $70k sports cars in the dust?
They'll be thinking, I'm glad I'm driving my Porsche.
I love my Honda. Go FI if you need more oomph.
