S2ks are in trouble
"The comparisons to the NSX are spot on. When the NSX came out, it ran with 911's, 348's, Corvette's, etc. And now, as far as lap times and measurements go, the modern day versions of those cars would destroy it. However, many people still say the NSX is the most fun car they've ever driven. Same with the S2000. When it came out there were no 350z's, evo's, sti's, cobalt ss's, etc. It did, however, run with Boxster's, M roadsters - we were to them what the cobalt is to us. Cheaper and faster. But like the NSX, evolution has been slow to non-existent with the S2000."
That is right on.
I bought a 2000 honda S2000 in sebring silver metallic with 73k miles for $9500 when my 1997 honda del sol VTEC was stolen. That car was gorgeous and I loved it but when I drove the s2000 I forgot that I ever loved a del sol. In a del sol I looked like a street racer and was a cop magnate. In the short time that i owned the s2000 I have not been harassed by cops. I do obey the law more because the car brings more attention. But I have also received tons of compliments about the car. People see the car and they see class and sophistication. Most people see a s2000 and they have no clue that it only cost me 9.5k.
i can't justify paying more than 5k for a del sol or a 00 civic SI, SI's are still going for close to 9k for a clean one. My s2k wasn't the best one that I could find and it had a few things wrong with it but I only paid 9.5k
The honda s2000 raised the bar for other car makers. The s2000 became the car to beat, so don't you think that after 9 years they would not accomplish that ?
No if honda puts X car and sets out to beat it don't you think that they would do it ?
That is right on.

Also i have no clue on what the car is capable of. I have not even tried to push it I drive it easy and I'm trying to get comfortable with it. My plans for next year is to get some professional driving lessons and take it out to track days at gingerman and some auto x's

my first motorsport event ever was at gingerman. Retrospectively, I would have autocrossed first. I always tell people they don't know what the S2000 is capable of until they've spun out (in the dry). You don't necessarily want to do that at Gingerman. Great safe track though.

When it comes down to it none of the aforementioned cars are S2K's plain and simple. I see in the introductions section plenty of guys/gals coming from more powerful cars. (STi's, Evo's, etc...) Most of us bought this car for the pure fun factor it provides right out of the box.
