I have 33,000k on mine. I want to have the spark plug, driver's window, and the 1-2grind TSB's done. I am a little hesitant with the clutch as I love how stiff it is and I have felt cars that have had the TSB done as well as 2002's and the clutch is not as stiff. I have heard the buzzing only once. I have had the car for 2 months tops. I am not sure what to do. Also, I'm realitively new to manual car driving so I'm sure I put some pressure on teh clutch when I first got the car. Someone please give me any advice, especially someone who has had the TSB done.

[B]I am amazed that you have 33,000 on the original clutch. My original clutch would not have made it to 33,000 miles. I had it replaced at 17,000 and it felt like it was on it's last legs then. I had a really bad buzzing noise and once the clutch disk was replaced, it drives like a new car now. My new clutch is much, much better than the old one ever was. The pressure and feel of the clutch pedal didn't change on my car. But the way that it works certainly did. It feels like I have a clutch now. I don't think that I would be worried about changing the clutch. The dealer may not change it, if it isn't making a buzzing sound. It sounds like you bought the car used. I wonder if the car has already had

If you only got 17k miles out of your first clutch, I don't blame you for being amazed at 33k.

I didn't see the old one, but I imagine that there couldn't have been much friction material left on the disk. My old one had a lot of free travel before it started to engage.
Once again I feel the need to point out that with a hydraulic clutch, there will be no change in pedal engagement point as the clutch wears, the clutch fluid simply drops lower in the reservoir. With a cable clutch however, the engagement point will change as the friction material wears away.

Maybe I'be been lucky with these clutches. But with my original clutch I had 25,000 miles, plenty of 7K drops and had driven my S pretty hard on it and it had no sliappage what so ever. I got the TSB done 2,000 miles ago and along with adding GM Synchromesh and have had no probelms with the new one either. I'm not sure if it's the tranny fluid or the new clutch but it's definitely smoother. For anyone with over 20K miles and is debating the TSB, my advice is...remember you're getting a new free clutch! Now whether the 02 clutch isn't as strong as the 01 remains to be seen. I'll let everyone know when I rack up some more miles.

Thanks Steve, I like to use the dead pedal to rest my left foot on. I cut my teeth on a stick shift 38 years ago and have had a fair amount of experience driving manual transmissions since then.

My comment was merely to say that my first clutch was a piece of garbage. My last Honda stick shift (a 1977 Civic Hatchback)
