I love the blue seats, blue carpet is nice too. I just don't like some of the blue vinyl parts, they are a bit radioactive , mixing up some black and blue is my fav.

I have an 03 AP1 and an 08 AP2.

If i had to choose 1 it would be my 08. Its better looking, faster and more refined.

More refined... absolutely......"Faster".... not so much.... Maybe gearing and bump in torque gives perception, but figures are always almost identical across board.... fractions of a second doesn't constitute faster..
My free Hoosier tires disagree.

The '04 felt quicker around town, but the "fun zone" on the engine shrank. The steering was slower, the clutch was softer, and the back end didn't drift as quickly or easily as the '01. But yes, it had a bit more torque.

The '08 is the most comfortable from a daily perspective, and the added glove "compartment" has been useful. But the DBW system has already experienced a pedal position sensor failure, and I often find myself turning off the VSA while diving into corners under braking just before heel-toe downshifting - all so I can enjoy the exit. I hate that thing and hate that I have to remember to turn it off every time I start the car. I lost an autocross one day because I had to turn my car off off between runs and forgot to turn that stupid thing off. I'm hoping with the Flashpro I just kicked up I can permanently disable it, as well as lower vtec to get my full fun zone back . I've already installed an ap1 flywheel and removed the CDV, and a stiffer front Swaybar has returned ap1-like steering feel.
Hi
I really like what you wrote regarding your '08 with FlashPro, an AP1 flywheel, stiffer front sway bar, disabled CDV. I just picked up a 2006 Laguna with 85000 miles. I also own a 2003 Suzuka with 30000 that I have had for 3 years. I love the feel of the AP1.

My question to you please-how does your 2008 now feel/drive with FlashPro, stiffer front sway, AP1 flywheel, no CDV? Does it feel/drive like an AP1? I am hoping by doing what you did to my 2006 I will have the best of both worlds-AP2 tranny/gearing/stiffer chassis with more midrange and quicker shifting like an AP1.

My name is Scott R. and I live in Denver, Colorado. Would you please email with your comments at: scott.rovner@gmail.com

Thanks very much.

I don't disagree that the AP2 is an "evolution" of a legendary car which the AP1 is and will always be. The refinements and tweaks in the Ap2 make it a more comfortable and easier car to drive.

However, as far as "classic" and future collectability, an AP1 with the legendary and groundbreaking F20 engine will be the more desired car 20 years from now...
This was the engine that won Engine of the year awards 4 years straight and was recently chosen by Car and Driver as the best NA Engine of all times over McClarens and Ferraris ets. It was truly and engineering marvel....

Old news here, but the magnitude of what Honda accomplished with the original AP1 gets lost in all these debates. The AP2 is only a great car because it is 95% an Ap1... The Ap2 isn't a redesign... It is an evolution of the original....

I went from an 08 S2000 CR to an 03 AP1.

One thing about the AP1 is it makes me want to ring it out and really push that engine to 9k every single time. My brain is screaming to shift but when i look down at the tach i still have another 1000rpm to go. The car is special... All S2000's are special.

The F20C is a great engine, the F22C isn't any less advanced, it's simply a stroked version which means they had to limit revs to keep piston speeds down. But it's not cheaper or less developed, quite the contrary. Different than the Mezger engine crowd with Porsche vs the 9A1 or M97.

It's the same "shoe, different size"... The point is that the F20c was the engineering marvel when it was released. Set records for HP to Liter and 9K limits.

Hence this accolade....

This guy never misses a chance to circle jerk. I agree that S2000s (all of them) are great in many ways but your posts are don't really serve any purpose but to reassure yourself.

Edit: Spelling

Yeah OK... I rarely post actually but I get a kick out of these threads that invariably end up in why AP2 is such a "better car" when it is only an evolution of what the car was originally. You guys talk as if the AP2 was a total redesign.... I get the refinements but at end of day what made the S2000 "special" was taken away with the F22c engine... here in the US at least. Funny how they kept it everywhere else for most part. The awards and Car and Driver are a testimony to the original and as far as collectability, my response is based on that....
