2001 is my favorite.

+Two tone interior available. Black and red looks awesome
+No unsigtly tweeter warts on the doors. I can not stand those.
+9k Redline
+Glass windscreen added in 2001+
+Original suspension geometry and rates. Very raw and rewarding

 

I'd go for the '02 or '03 to get the glass rear window and more color options. I think many years from now, 02-03 models will be the most sought after.

 

You'll be very happy with your buying decision I think regardless of what year you buy. I also purchased my S2000 used about 2 months ago and after looking at each model year or 'generation' if you will, I decided on 2003 for a number of different reasons:

- Glass rear window; Leather center console
- 2.0 Litre Engine and 9,000 rpm redline
- TSB issue's have been resolved
- Warranty

I think all in all, the 02'-03' are the two best model years, but all of them are wonderful cars.

The newest one with the least miles you can afford..if you can swing a new or used 04 then drive one along with the 02-03 just to compare...04 has lots of changes, but they all great cars.

 

The glass did not come until 2002.

 

He might be talking about the deflector that it not an option anymore. I thought the MY2000 didn't come with a wind deflector.

 

2002 - 2003 gets my vote!

 

i was wondering.. is there a way you can get the plastic rear window changed aftermarket or whatever. cause plastic looks kinda.. eh. after a while it gets scratchy and stuff.. just wondering. and one more. the leather center console, i like a LOOOT better than the like carpet-y thing. is there a way i can buy or install those. thanks, im a S2k newbie.

02-04. Like them the best. I have an 02 because I wanted the 9k redline and the glass window. The 04 is new and usually first rears have issues to work out. 05 would be better possibly for that reason. However haven't heard any complaints from the 04 guys yet.
