Harry & What The--

Did you get those replaced under warranty, or did you have to foot the bill for them?

There's a poll on windshield replacements, and several discussion threads - as already mentioned.

My research todate suggests that Honda windshields are not soft, as many suggested. Glass is glass. Not all windshield manufacturers produce equal quality. My installer feels the OEM, Honda, windshield is best. Other aftermarket windshields run the risk of bad fit, warpped glass, poor or wrong tint. Folks who tried PPG, for example, report the pitting continued. The shop, which caters to high end sports cars, believes it just the nature of the beast -- the aerodynamics of the car makes it more like to pick up pits and chips. My recommendation is to get 'full glass coverage' without a deductible on your auto insurance, if you don't already have it. I'm having my first replacement next week (major chip and some pits) and expect it won't be the last time. Naturally how clean and high speed the roads you drive will play a big part in this.

Ahh, its the aerodynamics that draws the rocks...I was thinking that they put something special in the paint and glass that would attract loose rocks like a magnet. ;-)

Fact of life: Roadsters get rock chips.

I agree there is nothing wrong with the glass - the glass is just 3 feet off the ground. Its just one of those things - get used to it or get rid of it. Vettes, Vipers, M3, Z3, Miata, Benz - they all get the same abuse - especially here in the free stone capital of the world.

BTW: Joe, I've have spent a reasonable amount of time in every major (commercial) US city, including Charlotte and I have to say that when you consider the size of Houston (people forget its the fourth largest city in the US), that our traffic is not really that bad. Granted some areas are worse than others, but that's self imposed becasue of construction.

I made a wrong turn in Charlotte one time going to FirstUnion and ended up going about 1 mile past my turn. That mile cost me 20 minutes! At least in Houston, we have enough alternative routes to get any one place that you can avoid some of the traffic. That is unless you live in Sugarland or Katy!

Ahh, its the aerodynamics that draws the rocks...Yep.

It's not the 3' off the ground. I never have this problem in my MGA! But what did the Brits know of aerodynamics. When a wind tunnel test was done on the MGA at a university it showed the grill deflected the air FROM the radiator and the hood vents SUCKED air in, rather than let hot air out as intended.
